Thousands mourn IRGC advisors killed in Israeli strike on Damascus
The mourners affirmed that they would follow in the footsteps of the fallen Iranian military figures until the collapse of Zionism.
Thousands of people took part in the funeral processions of the Iranian military advisors who were killed in the Israeli missile strike on the Iranian consulate in the Syrian capital city of Damascus.
During a ceremony held in the shrine of Ruqayyah bint al-Hussein in Damascus on the night of April 2, the mourners carried the martyrs' coffins, draped with the Iranian national flag.
They affirmed that they would follow in the footsteps of the martyred Iranian military figures until the collapse of global arrogance and Zionism, as they marked Laylat al-Qadr, the occasion when the Holy Quran was revealed to the Prophet of Islam some 14 centuries ago.
They further promised that Israeli crimes would not go unpunished, and vowed that the blood of the martyrs would not be in vain as it would only motivate Muslims to bravely fight for the full liberation of occupied al-Quds to say their prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque.
'Israel' assassinates commanders as revenge for Oct 7: IRGC spox.
The spokesperson of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), Brigadier General Ramadan Sharif, said today that the Israeli occupation is trying to get its revenge for Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, during which it suffered a great failure, by targeting and assassinating IRGC commanders, but affirmed that "Israel" will be suffering greater blows.
In a statement mourning the recent assassination of seven of the IRGC's commanders and officers, Sharif said, "Their martyrdom only fuels our strive and will to confront the Zionists".
"The Zionists are humanity's enemies, and today, Jews oppose this mischievous entity," noting that the global population is calling for the end of Israeli aggression against Gaza and Palestine.
Brigadier General Sharif commended Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movements for their brave defense of the Palestinian cause, adding that they achieved significant accomplishments over the past six months, while "the Zionists proceeded with their monstrous, reckless tactics for six months, but have not achieved any of their objectives."
He revealed that the funerals of the IRGC martyrs will be held on al-Quds Day on the last Friday of Ramadan, in Tehran, Iran.
The body of Brigadier General Zahedi will be moved to the central city of Isfahan with a military reception after the procession in Tehran.
Also on Friday, all Iranian cities will mobilize in marches for World al-Quds Day, as 2,000 starting points have been set up. The commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hossein Salami, will also be giving a speech on the occasion.
Demonstrations are set to begin at 10 am a.m. local time (05:30 GMT) in Tehran, and people will march from Imam Hossein Square towards Tehran University's sprayer ground.
Sayyed Khamenei: 'Israel' will 'regret' this crime
Iranian leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei vowed on April 2 that Iran's men would "punish" the Israeli occupation following the assassination of senior Iranian Revolution Guard Corps members at the hands of the "usurping and despicable" Israeli occupation.
Sayyed Khamenei issued this message regarding the martyrdom of Major General Mohammad Reza Zahedi along with a number of others following the Israeli aggression on Iran's consulate in Damascus, Syria.
He further affirmed "Our courageous men will exact punishment upon the evil regime. We will ensure they regret this and other crimes, with the will of God."
This comes after Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi called the Israeli aggression against the Iranian consulate in Syria's Damascus, a "new terrorist crime" and considered it a "violation of international resolutions."
Raisi also stressed that "the Zionists must know that they will not achieve their goals" reaffirming that the "crime of attacking the consulate in Damascus will not go unanswered."
