Toll of Israeli massacre in Beirut's al-Basta area rises to 16 martyrs
Rescue efforts were ongoing, with an excavator clearing the rubble of the building while a fire truck and civil defense teams were stationed nearby to assist.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Beirut said 16 people were killed and over 70 injured as a result of the Israeli massacre in the al-Basta area in central Beirut.
According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, there are up to 11 martyrs and around 63 wounded, with many unidentified body parts.
"The final death toll will be determined after DNA tests are carried out," the ministry said in a statement.
The attack in the Lebanese capital was followed by additional strikes in the Southern Suburb of the city following evacuation orders issued by the Israeli occupation military.

An Israeli airstrike early this morning targeted an 8-story residential building in the area, leveling it to the ground.

The explosions from the strike were heard across a wide area, with reports indicating that the sound reached as far as Mount Lebanon and even Saida. The blast was reportedly extremely loud, reverberating throughout Beirut.
Israeli drones have been continuously flying over Beirut’s skies, with no signs of retreat, according to our correspondent.
