Trump, Xi plan reciprocal China and US visits in 2026
Trump and Xi Jinping held a phone call to confirm mutual visits in 2026, discussing Ukraine, Russia, fentanyl, and agricultural trade relations.

US President Donald Trump announced that he has accepted an invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit China in April 2026. He added that Xi will travel to the United States later the same year for a reciprocal visit.
The two leaders held a phone conversation earlier in the day.
"President Xi invited me to visit Beijing in April, which I accepted, and I reciprocated where he will be my guest for a State Visit in the U.S. later in the year," Trump said via Truth Social.

Leaders discuss Ukraine, Russia, fentanyl, and trade
In a separate message, Trump described the call with Xi as “very good,” noting that they covered a broad range of global and bilateral issues.
"I just had a very good telephone call with President Xi, of China. We discussed many topics including Ukraine/Russia, Fentanyl, Soybeans and other Farm Products, etc. We have done a good, and very important, deal for our Great Farmers — and it will only get better," Trump said.
Trump emphasized the positive tone of the exchange, stating that the relationship between the US and China "is extremely strong."

China expresses hope in Ukraine peace deal
On Monday, China Central Television (CCTV) reported on the phone call between Xi and Trump held earlier in the day, stating that Beijing has expressed hope that all parties involved in the conflict will reach a fair and lasting peace agreement.
XI was quoted by the news outlet in saying "China hopes that all parties will continuously narrow their differences and reach a fair, lasting and binding peace agreement that addresses the root causes of the crisis as soon as possible."
The Chinese president reafirmed that Beijing stands with all international efforts seeking peace, emphasising China's continued role in global conflict resolution.
