UN not planning staff evacuations from Lebanon, UN tells Al Mayadeen
The UN office in Lebanon has denied rumors of staff evacuations amid escalating Israeli violations of the ceasefire, including a deadly strike on Beirut and repeated attacks on UNIFIL peacekeepers.

The United Nations office in Lebanon has dismissed circulating claims on social media suggesting that the organization has begun evacuating its staff or their families. UN officials told Al Mayadeen that the allegations are "completely untrue."
In a statement, the office said that "at this stage, the United Nations in Lebanon is not evacuating any of its staff." It added that regular emergency planning is standard practice across the organization to prepare for potential disruptions and ensure continuity of operations.
The clarification comes as Southern Lebanon continues to experience near-daily strikes by "Israel," while the most recent strike, which targeted the capital, Beirut, has fueled growing concerns of a renewed war. On 23 November, an Israeli air strike on the southern suburb of Beirut killed five people and wounded 28, including martyred Hezbollah commander Haytham Ali Tabatabai.
Following the strike, Joseph Aoun, President of Lebanon, described the attack as "further proof that Israel pays no heed to repeated calls to stop its aggression against Lebanon" and said it "rejects the implementation of international resolutions and all efforts aimed at restoring stability."
UNIFIL forces have also been targeted in recent weeks, with peacekeepers coming under fire and reporting repeated incidents involving Israeli drones, tank fire, and dangerous overflights along the Blue Line. The most recent aggression occurred on November 16, when an Israeli Merkava tank fired rounds that landed only a few metres from a UNIFIL patrol operating inside Lebanese territory.
