US claims drone attacks on Iraq bases foiled, admits 'minor injuries'
US defense officials reveal that three drones carried out attacks on two different bases housing US troops in Iraq, resulting in "minor injuries" to coalition forces at one of the sites.
US defense officials revealed that three drones targeted two different bases that house US troops in Iraq, causing "minor injuries" to Coalition forces at one of the sites.
“An attempted attack against U.S. and Coalition forces in Iraq was disrupted in the early morning of Oct. 18,” Col. Sean Heidgerken said, as quoted by The Hill.
“Two one-way drones were shot down in the attack,” he claimed.
US Central Command (Centcom), responsible for American troops in the Middle East, subsequently reported that one drone had been eliminated, and another sustained damage, resulting in what they called "minor injuries".
Several hours afterward, a separate drone attack struck the al-Harir air base in northern Iraq's Erbil, where American occupation forces are stationed.
Simultaneously, Centcom affirmed US forces “engaged and destroyed a drone, resulting in no injuries or damage.”
This comes after sources in the Iraqi Islamic Resistance confirmed to Al Mayadeen on Wednesday that the Resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for multiple operations targeting US occupation forces on Iraqi soil following the Gaza hospital massacre, vowing more operations.

By targeting US bases, Iraqi Resistance enters into battle: Exclusive
The military spokesperson for the Iraqi Kataib Hezbollah, Jaafar al-Husseini, announced on Wednesday that the Iraqi Resistance has joined in the battle as of today and is directing its strikes at US bases.
Al-Husseini told Al Mayadeen that the Iraqi Resistance achieved today its first hits, confirming the continuation of its operations at a higher pace.
The military spokesperson for the Iraqi Kataib Hezbollah underlined that the Resistance in Iraq has the capabilities to target all American bases and even expel US forces from the country.
Touching on the statements of US President Joe Biden, al-Husseini pointed out that the United States is an essential partner in the killing of the children of Gaza and therefore must bear the consequences.
Iraqi factions had previously pledged that they "will not stand idly by in the face of the ongoing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza."
Meanwhile, Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces chief Faleh al-Fayyad said in an interview for Al Mayadeen on Saturday that Iraq will carry out "all duties toward the Palestinians, at the level of aid or military-wise."
