US Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group enter Gulf waters: CENTCOM
US Central Command says the strike group would support "CENTCOM requirements throughout the region."
The US strike group led by the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower passed through the Strait of Hormuz into the waters of the Gulf, US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed on Monday.
"On Nov. 26, the Carrier Strike Group Eisenhower (IKECSG) completed a transit of the Strait of Hormuz to enter the waters of the Arabian Gulf as the Strike Group continues to support USCENTCOM missions," the command said on X.
The command added that the strike group would carry out patrols to ensure freedom of navigation along key international waterways, as well as support "CENTCOM requirements throughout the region."

In late October, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said that the United States sent the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower carrier strike group to the Gulf and deployed additional air defenses throughout the region as it anticipated a continued escalation of attacks against US forces in the region by Iran's "proxy forces."
Additionally, the USS Gerald R. Ford carrier strike group is positioned in the Eastern Mediterranean to serve as a deterrent to any third parties that might consider joining the conflict against "Israel", the Pentagon said.
Recent attacks on US military bases in Iraq and Syria have pushed the number of operations against US military assets in the Middle East to 73 since the start of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, an unnamed US official told CNN.
CNN said these attacks mark at least 73 operations against US forces in the region from a period ranging from October 17 to November 24.
In support of the Palestinian Resistance in Gaza, Resistance factions in Iraq and Syria have launched a series of continuous attacks on US military assets in said countries and in occupied Palestine.
The Islamic Resistance in Iraq made it clear that the US unconditional support for the Israeli occupation has made it a legitimate target of the Resistance.
