The Resistance in Lebanon was able to thwart "Israel's" objectives and prevent it from occupying any territory during Battle People of Might, Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem affirmed on Wednesday, adding that "Israel is deterred today and cannot find a foothold on our land."
In a speech marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Sheikh Qassem pointed out that "since the establishment of modern Lebanon, Israel has had greedy ambitions" to lay hands on the entirety of the country.
So, "the highest form of patriotism is the defense of Lebanon," he asserted.
Sheikh Qassem said that the Resistance had paid a tremendous price in defending Lebanon, offering its most precious sacrifices, including the Master of the Nation’s Martyrs, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and Sayyed Hashim Safieddine.
In a similar context, the Secretary-General stated that the Resistance has played a crucial role in forming an impenetrable barrier against "Israel's" aforementioned ambitions and prevented it from achieving its goals. He emphasized the Resistance's contribution to achieving stability in Lebanon and ushering in a new era by facilitating the election of President Aoun and confronting the enemy.
Sheikh Qassem maintained that "the collapse in Lebanon was caused by corruption and the failure to implement the Taif Agreement," adding that the "Israeli aggression came to push things further toward collapse."
He noted that the purpose of the November ceasefire agreement had been to halt the aggression and for the state to assume its responsibilities by removing the occupier; however, neither of these two objectives has been achieved so far.
Government sessions are ultra vires
Commenting on the recent sessions held by the Lebanese government on August 5 and 7 to implement the Lebanese Army's plans to enforce the exclusivity of arms to the state, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah stated that they are ultra vires.
He emphasized that no dialogue can be held outside of the framework of a national defense strategy, asserting that this is the only way to a solution.
In this context, Hezbollah's chief emphasized that Lebanon's development is based on three pillars: first, achieving sovereignty by expelling "Israel" and preventing Arab-American tutelage; second, regularizing state work and beginning reconstruction; and third, combating corruption.
Reflecting on the situation in Lebanon, Sheikh Qassem stated, "There is an internal problem represented by some individuals who want to hand over weapons and an external problem represented by the ongoing Israeli aggression."
He added that certain actors inside the country are operating as per an Israeli agenda, urging them instead to "act as domestic partners rather than offering justifications for the enemy."
He then addressed domestic parties, advising them to wait until the external problem is handled before turning to a discussion on national security strategy.
In this context, the Resistance leader stressed that seeking power through "Israel" is of no use and called on everyone in Lebanon, Muslims and Christians, to partake in building the nation.
US willing to give Lebanon away to 'Israel'
Meanwhile, Sheikh Naim Qassem questioned why the government would want to forfeit Lebanon's main source of strength when it possesses no alternative for national defense.
This comes at a time when "the United States is more than willing to hand over Lebanon in its entirety to Israel," he warned.
"Both the United States and the enemy share a single objective, which is to strip Lebanon of its strength so it becomes easy prey for Israel's grand expansionist project," Sheikh Naim asserted. He further argued that the United States has backtracked on its commitments toward Lebanon, noting that its priority has now become disarming Hezbollah before any step is taken by the enemy.
He also affirmed that the West does not care about Lebanon but rather is only concerned about "Israel", stressing that for "us, Lebanon is our land, our future, and the future of our generations."
"We will not yield to pressure, no matter how intense it becomes, and we will never surrender," he asserted.
Aggression on Qatar extension of 'Greater Israel' project
Commenting on the aggression against Qatar, he stated that "it is a quintessentially American-Israeli aggression, carried out with an American green light," adding, "We stand with Qatar in confronting this aggression, which is not an isolated incident but rather an integral part of the Greater Israel project."
Sheikh Qassem questioned why Arab states do not support the Resistance, given that the only thing delaying the "Greater Israel" project's decisive action is the Resistance's continued existence.
He addressed the Arab nations directly by asking what they would even be able to do if the Resistance were to be ended.
In this context, he affirmed that "those who do not wish to support the Resistance should at least refrain from attacking it and applying pressure on it, because no one is capable of confronting Israel other than the Resistance."
Sheikh Qassem added, "Unity that is based on a foundation of truth will lead to national unity across all our countries."
Resistance remains steadfast
Hezbollah's Secretary-General, Sheikh Naim Qassem, extended a special greeting to "the great and courageous Yemen," which he stated is bearing immense burdens to express unity and to stand firmly in solidarity with the Palestinian cause, affirming that supporting Palestine represents the utmost form of Islamic unity.
The Palestinian cause remains the central issue that most profoundly expresses the unity of the Islamic nation, Sheikh Qassem affirmed, recalling its steadfast positions through which it has made sacrifices and stood by the Palestinian people at every stage.
Amid the ongoing aggression, he called for "standing alongside our people in Gaza and the West Bank in confronting the criminal American-Israeli aggression," affirming that "the Palestinian people remain steadfast and that the Resistance endures despite all challenges and difficulties."
Concluding his remarks, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah pointed out that the "Ramot" operation near al-Quds serves as a model of Palestinian courage and will, confirming that the Palestinian people hold the power of decision over their own lives and resistance, no matter how intense the conspiracies against them become.
