Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Saturday strongly condemned the Israeli attack on Iran, describing it as a "criminal assault on the people of Iran that violates international law and the United Nations Charter, and threatens the Middle East with a dangerous escalation whose consequences are unknown."
In a statement, Maduro accused France, Germany, Britain, and the United States of continuing to support what he described as "the 21st-century Hitler", referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and "now against the noble and peaceful Iranian people."
Venezuela declares solidarity with Iran and Arab nations
The Venezuelan leader emphasized his country's opposition to war, stating, "We say no to war and declare our full solidarity with the peoples of Iran, Palestine, Yemen, Syria, and Lebanon, and with all Islamic and Arab peoples."
He clarified that "the conflict with Israel is not religious but geopolitical," describing "Israel" as "a state created to invade the Middle East and Central Asia, to seize their resources, and colonize their peoples."
Maduro also characterized the Zionist project as stretching "from the Jordan River to the Euphrates."
He concluded his remarks with a firm message, "No to war, no to fascism, no to neo-Nazi Zionism."
Cuba holds US and 'Israel' responsible for escalation
Similarly, Cuba's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement holding the US and "Israel" responsible for the consequences of "an unjustified war against Iran."
The statement denounced the attacks carried out by "Israel" against the Islamic Republic of Iran, describing them as a "flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter and international law, particularly the principles of sovereignty and the prohibition of the use or threat of use of force against the territorial integrity of any state."
Havana urges UN to stop aggression and ensure peace
The Cuban government asserted that "Israel's" aggressive policies are sustained by military, financial, and political support from the United States, which poses a direct threat to regional and international stability.
Cuba reaffirmed its complete solidarity with the Iranian people and government, warning of the danger of further escalation that could trigger a wider regional conflict.
The statement called upon the international community, especially the UN Security Council and General Assembly, to act swiftly to halt the aggression and hold "Israel" accountable for its actions.
Call for Palestinian statehood as path to regional stability
The Cuban Foreign Ministry also emphasized that resolving the broader conflict in the Middle East requires ending the genocide against Palestinians.
It reaffirmed support for the creation of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state within the pre-1967 borders, with al-Quds as its capital.
The Israeli occupation launched its assault on Iran early Friday, targeting Tehran as well as the provinces of Isfahan, Kermanshah, Lorestan, and Hamadan, resulting in several casualties, including senior military commanders such as the Commander-in-Chief of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), Major General Hossein Salami, and the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, General Mohammad Bagheri, as well as prominent nuclear scientists.
