Violent missile attack targets US base in Conoco field: Syria
A missile attack targets the US military base in the Conoco field in the Deir Ezzor countryside, eastern Syria.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Syria reported a heavy missile strike targeting the US military base located at the Conoco gas field in eastern Syria's Deir Ezzor countryside.
Our correspondent confirmed that a missile struck the support and supply area on the northern perimeter of the US base.
Bombing US bases has become increasingly routine following last Tuesday's strikes on the US base in al-Shaddadi and the al-Omar oil field.
Sources reported to Al Mayadeen that the strike coincided with US forces conducting military training exercises at the al-Jebsa housing area in the town’s southern region.
In a separate development, Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Damascus reported that a Syrian Army checkpoint prevented a convoy of four US military vehicles from entering the village of Tal al-Dhahab in the Qamishli countryside.
Meanwhile, earlier, a significant explosion shook the US base at the al-Omar oil field in eastern Deir Ezzor, as a rocket barrage targeted the facility, according to a Sputnik correspondent.
The correspondent added that US forces attempted to intercept the rockets with ground defenses; however, plumes of smoke rose from the base, visible from a considerable distance.
This comes after American aircraft struck two areas in the eastern Syrian governorate of Deir Ezzor, early on Wednesday, Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported.
Our correspondent said the strikes targeted positions of the Syrian Arab Army-affiliated fighters, in the al-Jamiyat area of al-Bukamal, near the border with Iraq.
According to an initial toll, three people were martyred and another five were injured in the aggression.
