Wang on Trump's takeover plan: Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people
China's foreign minister stresses the need for an independent Palestinian state and the importance of Middle East peace for global stability.

China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed that Gaza is an inalienable part of Palestinian territory during a press conference at the high-profile "Two Sessions" event organized by the Chinese government.
China's FM addresses Trump's Gaza 'takeover' plan
"Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people and is an inalienable part of the Palestinian territory," Wang stressed on Friday.
Wang addressed a wide range of topics with reporters, placing particular emphasis on a question from Anadolu Agency regarding US President Donald Trump's plan to "take over" the Gaza Strip.
The top Chinese diplomat said that his country supports a plan developed by Egypt and other Arab countries for the rebuilding of the Gaza Strip and "restoring peace" in the territory.
"The will of the people must not be defied and the principle of justice must not be abandoned," Wang said of the developments in Palestine.

Major powers should respect Palestinians' right to self-governance
Wang also emphasized the importance of Palestinian self-governance, particularly in the context of improving the lives of Palestinians in Gaza.
"If major powers genuinely care about the people of Gaza, they should promote a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire in Gaza, increase humanitarian assistance, observe the principle of Palestinians governing Palestine, and contribute to the reconstrution of Gaza," Wang underlined.

Supporting 'two-state solution', peace in the Middle East
The minister underscored the importance of achieving peace in the Middle East as a foundation for international stability, emphasizing that Palestine "has always been at the heart of the Middle East issue."
He further reiterated his country's support for a "two-state solution," pointing to the need to facilitate the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, which he said "is still far beyond reach."
Furthermore, Wang highlighted the Beijing Declaration, urging Palestinian factions to implement the agreement to foster unity and advance their collective goals.
"China is a strategic partner of Middle East countries and a sincere friend of our Arab brothers. We will continue to strive resolutely for justice, peace, and development for the Middle east people and support countries in the region in taking their future into their own hands," Wang conducted.
