In the state residence in Beijing on Wednesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping convened with Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev, as confirmed by the latter's secretariat.
"Medvedev conveyed to the head of China a message from Russian President V.V. Putin, which, in particular, notes the unprecedented level of Russian-Chinese political dialogue and practical cooperation, expresses confidence in the constant progressive development of interstate and inter-party ties in close cooperation with the new leadership of the Chinese Communist Party, elected following the recent party forum of the Chinese Communists," the secretariat said.
This comes as Medvedev heads a delegation from the United Russia party and this counts as a visit by invite of the Chinese Communist Party.

"Medvedev and Xi Jinping were unanimous in their high assessment of the current state and prospects of Russian-Chinese relations, and had a thorough exchange of views on a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda," the secretariat relayed.
One of the major key points in the meeting is the fact that both Medvedev and Xi agreed to fortify the already-strong relations between Russia and China.
Russia and China agreed in September to deepen defense cooperation with a focus on holding joint exercises. A growing friendship between Xi and Putin has helped put the two countries closer together. The ambitions to end what China and Russia regard as America's economic and geopolitical hegemony further strengthened the diplomatic ties.
The Kremlin reported in June that Putin and Xi stated that Russian-Chinese relations are at an unprecedented high level and are constantly improving.
