Yemen’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates described the results of the emergency Arab-Islamic summit held in Doha as "disappointing", saying they fell short of the expectations of Arab and Muslim peoples and failed to address the existential threat posed by the Israeli occupation entity.
Failure to take practical measures against 'Israel'
In a statement carried by SABA news agency, the Ministry said the summit did not adopt serious, practical measures to compel "Israel" to comply with international law, end its aggression and siege on Gaza, or stop its threats against regional states.
According to the statement, Arab and Muslim populations had expected strong and decisive actions, such as cutting diplomatic and trade relations with "Israel," enforcing a comprehensive boycott, breaking the siege on Gaza, and supporting the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and their resistance.
Summit convenes amid ongoing Gaza bloodshed
The Ministry stressed that while the Doha summit convened, Israeli occupation forces were escalating their assault on Gaza. Even before summit resolutions were finalized, the Israeli army launched a ground invasion of Gaza City, coinciding with US reassurances that "Israel" was not alone.
It warned that the repeated failure of Arab and Islamic summits to issue decisive and practical resolutions only emboldens "Israel" to continue what it described as the extermination of Palestinians in Gaza, extend aggression to other regional states, and undermine international solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
The statement praised the strong positions adopted by some non-Arab and non-Islamic countries in defense of Palestine, contrasting them with the limited responses of close Arab and Islamic states, which the Ministry said did not go beyond verbal condemnation.
At the same time, it commended the “commendable positions” of Malaysia and Pakistan, which proposed practical steps that could have had a real impact if taken seriously by participating states.
Yemen reaffirms support for Gaza
Concluding its statement, the Ministry said past experiences prove that "Israel" only understands the language of force and that rights are not restored through symbolic statements but through practical action and firm political stances.
It reaffirmed Yemen’s continued support for Gaza and its people “by all available means and regardless of sacrifices,” until the aggression and siege are ended.
