Zakharova calls out Blinken for rumors about 'isolation' of Russia
Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova accuses US Secretary of State Antony Blinken of "creating his own tales to justify his tales."
The Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova revealed that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is making up stories about the purported isolation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Russia during the G20 summit in Bali.
"This is the same Secretary of State Blinken who said that 'anyone who knows the President [Joe Biden] knows he speaks very clearly and very deliberately for himself'," Zakharova said on Telegram.
Blinken drove himself into self-isolation by "shirking a number of forum events" where most guests did not even notice his absence, according to Zakharova.
"And now, to justify your own failure, you make up tall tales. We have been told how you personally ask everyone to 'isolate' Russia. And everyone you ask is laughing behind your back, knowing that the current administration is doomed to an ignominious end," Russia's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman added.

The Russian and US envoys gathered yesterday for a Group of 20 foreign ministers meeting in Indonesia, with Jakarta's Foreign Minister underlining the importance of putting an end to the Ukraine war and resolving differences through negotiations.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived Thursday in Bali, Indonesia, for the G20 summit. This is the first time that leaders of countries from the collective West, which have made Russia a direct "threat" through NATO's strategic concept paper, meet with the Russian Foreign Minister following the start of the war in Ukraine.
Lavrov meets with harshest opponents
On the other hand, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov slammed the West's "frenzied" condemnation of the Ukraine war at a G20 conference on Friday, accusing Russia's adversaries of sabotaging a chance to address global economic challenges.
At the summit, host Indonesia encouraged the G20 to help stop the crisis in Ukraine, which put some of Russia's harshest opponents in the same room as Moscow's top diplomat. "Aggressors', 'invaders', 'occupiers' - we heard a lot of things today," Lavrov told reporters.
He said the Western debate "strayed almost immediately, as soon as they took the floor, to the frenzied criticism of the Russian Federation in connection with the situation in Ukraine."
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova pointed out yesterday that the G7 plan to boycott Russia at the G20 in Bali failed, commenting on German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock's statement regarding the alleged non-participation of Minister Sergey Lavrov in G20 events.
