Atletico Madrid vs Juventus in "Tel Aviv" halted over attacks on Gaza
Juventus and Atletico Madrid have postponed their friendly match in "Tel Aviv" due to the situation in Gaza.
The recent Israeli attacks against Gaza and the latter's retaliation caused the suspension of Atletico Madrid's scheduled friendly with Juventus.
Atletico was due to take on the Old Lady at 20:30 in their final pre-season game before opening their LaLiga Santander campaign against Getafe on August 15.
The Spanish side was scheduled to fly to the occupied territories on Saturday; however, they have now changed their plans. Instead, Diego Simeone's side trained on Saturday morning without then heading to the airport.
Israeli media reported on Friday that the game was at risk of not being played, while there was also a possibility of moving to Turin, although the parties could consider a totally different venue.
Before their competitive season begins in just a few days, Atletico Madrid wants to play another match and there is still a chance that they will agree with Juventus to play at another venue on another date.
In the event that they cannot organize a rearranged clash with the Serie A side, they will look for another opponent.
Juventus had been skeptical about the game due to the situation in the occupied territories, and Atletico's decision not to head to "Tel Aviv" confirmed that the match would not go ahead as planned.
