Reality says that Trump's failures have been chained one after the other (Illustrated by Batoul Chamas; Al Mayadeen English)

Donald Trump sought to mark a radical departure from Joe Biden by promising geopolitical successes and ending “endless wars”, but the reality is that his failures have been chained one after the other. Leaving aside those harvested with Russia and China, in the Middle East came the first in March when Trump allowed "Israel" to restart the massacres in Gaza, reneging on a ceasefire that he claimed as his personal achievement in the premiere of his mandate.

Despite the US green light to the resumption of the carnage, the Palestinians released an Israeli captive with US citizenship a few weeks ago as a courtesy to sound out Trump's real willingness as a negotiator. All they got in return was increased Israeli massacres and the US, once again, making visible its role as the mastermind of the genocide it has always had since October 7, 2023.

That impostured negotiating will of Trump has also caused his Middle East envoy to fail a few days ago by asking the Palestinian Resistance to release all Israeli captives, basically in exchange for nothing, under the guise of ceasefire negotiations, using deceptions toward the Palestinian side, as revealed by Hamas.

This Trump, who touted himself as a tough negotiator, has disappeared by adding his failed coercion of Egypt and Jordan to collaborate in emptying Gaza of Palestinians, a point on which Biden, Europe, and the Emirates also failed with El Sisi and Abdallah. The only moment of relief for his damaged narcissism has been in receiving billions of dollars from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the Emirates, which really says nothing of Trump's virtuous persuasion but of his corruption and the domination relations of the US empire.

Even Trump has reproduced the gloomy image of the US rejecting a Gaza ceasefire alone in the UN Security Council that the previous president also displayed. Only once did Biden try to wash the US image and abstained in March 2024, allowing a ceasefire resolution to pass in the Security Council that none of the Western sponsors of genocide deigned to force its implementation. Nor, of course, have they bothered to force the implementation of the ICJ's precautionary measures issued a year and a half ago. Nor has "Israel's" ally who heads the UN, Antonio Guterres, ever bothered to demand them or at least remind the world of the existence of those orders of the UN's highest court.

For the time being, the US has lost the ability to negotiate directly with the Palestinian Resistance in Gaza until guaranteed points that were in the previous ceasefire agreements, such as a long-term duration horizon, the withdrawal of the Israeli army, and supplies of all kinds to the population, are included.

The control and dosage of food in Gaza as a pressure mechanism to expel its inhabitants is another of Trump's failures. Exporting the US prison model to Palestine, the idea was to try to impose on the Palestinians conditions of maximum oppression and humiliation in order to receive food that, in the long run, the Palestinians would not tolerate and they themselves would ask to leave Palestine. This erroneous hypothesis from its conception entailed expelling UNRWA or annihilating the local NGOs that distributed aid and commissioning a company of mercenaries created by "Israel" and the US, GHF, to carry out this function of increasing collective torture in the extermination camp. A few days later, the US had to interrupt the distribution of the meager foodstuffs, after having turned the food delivery points into slaughterhouses of Palestinians, massacred sometimes by GHF paramilitaries and other times by "Israel". Images of these massacres among the ranks of starving Palestinians have widened the cracks in international protection for "Israel", so GHF contractors have halted food deliveries until the US reassesses its strategy.

Another US failure dressed up as a “strategic reassessment” has been its withdrawal from the battlefield against Yemen. Little by little, the US media leaked the gigantic costs in billions of dollars of the failed war adventure against Yemen and, most importantly, the military losses.

Dozens of Reaper drones shot down, three F18A lost for unusual reasons, an F35 about to be shot down, and several aircraft carriers damaged, especially the Harry Truman, which will be out of service for several years due to a surreal “collision with a merchant ship” according to US propaganda. In the real world, US naval commanders acknowledged that they had to defend themselves against Yemeni drones and missiles by cannon fire in an attempt to shoot them down because their anti-aircraft defenses were exhausted. This Yemeni power already provoked in 2024 an undisguised fear in European warships that ended up fleeing from the battle of the Red Sea, leaving the US alone.

The first pillar that sustains an empire is the symbolic power imposing a general quasi-religious belief in its omnipotence, so the certain possibility of Yemen sinking a US warship, and something unprecedented in history, such as an aircraft carrier, would be a disaster for a declining US empire.

Following this damage control strategy, the US also had to abort its plan B against Yemen. This alternative plan was an operation similar to the one achieved in Syria with the Al Qaeda militias conquering Damascus from the areas occupied by Turkey, in this case, trying to overthrow the government in Sanaa by launching a mercenary army from the south of Yemen occupied by the Emirates. The symmetry between the two operations would be absolute, but unlike in Syria, the real risk here for the US was a total victory of the government led by Ansar Allah and the unification of all Yemeni territory with the defeat and expulsion of the Emirati occupiers and their militias.

News from Nowhere: The death of trust

After these six horrible months, Trump is forced to come up with new strategies to resolve the central issue that is slowly breaking down his Israeli colony, which is how to empty Palestine of Palestinians, and on which all the other regional fronts that accelerate the US weakening are superimposed. In the current quagmire, Trump has had to allow Yemen to continue its punishment of the Tel Aviv regime, with the Israeli settler society suffering a qualitative and quantitative, but slow, cornering and attrition, which gives the US time to continue to figure out how to expel the Palestinian redskins.

Because that is the cornerstone, the native Palestinians are not leaving. Despite the daily carnage and depraved collective torture, the Palestinians of Gaza, the living and the slaughtered, have pushed the Israeli regime into the existential cul-de-sac. They form a human mass together with the millions in the West Bank and the millions in the lands occupied in 1948, far superior in number to the demography of the Israeli settlers, in gradual flight.

The US and Europe, experts in colonization, know that the key is demographic warfare and agree with "Israel" that Gaza should be emptied of Palestinians and, more importantly, that the West Bank should follow the same path in the future. What differentiates them is the strategy to be followed to achieve this, with Europe wanting to do the ethnic cleansing in a “less violent” way. If they were to succeed, "Israel's" “democratic normality” would be restored in the media. All the responsibilities would fall on some military men, the members of the government of Netanyahu, and on the latter, who could die happy having accomplished his personal historical mission. "Israel" would be rehabilitated in a few years after certain penitential stagings. It is nothing new, a combination of the fictitious post-war denazification of Germany and the “democratic normality” of the USA after exterminating the native peoples of North America. But they do not succeed, hence their failure and stagnation.

By definition, a dead end, such as the one "Israel" and its Western backers find themselves in, is a cornering position, and in such a situation, the response of each subject will be different depending on the risks involved in that location.

The US will always move in the balance between its desire for the Zionist colony to settle definitively in the future history and damage control to its waning imperial hegemony. For "Israel", on the other hand, there is no possibility of future existence that does not involve the short-term elimination, by expulsion or murder, of all Palestinians in Gaza in order to begin to drastically overturn the demographic balance between settlers and natives in the whole of Palestine.

But the strategy of the three horsemen of the Apocalypse - bombs, famine, and disease - has failed, and the Palestinians are resisting in a dystopian wasteland of infinite rubble, and with each passing day, the international dam protecting the regime is cracking further.

So for "Israel", it is an existential war against the existential resistance of the Palestinians, and the current impasse is leading the regime toward its demise in a few years. "Israel" speculates that if the geopolitical context does not allow for an extermination or expulsion of millions of Palestinians, then it is a matter of changing the geopolitical context and determining what might be that other regional and global scenario in which there might be the possibility of emptying Palestine of Palestinians. "Israel" seeks this radical change.

'Israel' looking for catastrophic regional scenario

It should be remembered that there is a similarity in the evolution of the behavior of the Israeli settlers in Palestine with that shown by the French settlers in Algeria or the white settlers in South Africa.

In both Algeria and South Africa, the settlers perceived the horizon of collapse in the face of similar dead ends, and so their dynamics moved toward violent extremism. They created criminal organizations, the OAS in Algeria and the Afrikaner Resistance Movement in South Africa, with terrorist attacks that sought to change the course of events to ensure the survival of their colonial entities. The big difference here is that in Palestine, it is a state apparatus, a government, and an army with nuclear weapons that represent the settlers' drift toward maximum violence.

In the unlimited protection that the West has granted to the Israeli regime for 77 years and during this genocide, the Zionist leaders understand that the desired change of geopolitical context involves opening a regional war of extreme intensity against Iran, and that is why they have announced that they will carry it out even without US authorization. The real reason is not to neutralize Tehran's atomic program with “precise” attacks, something that is unattainable under the Iranian mountains, but to open the curtain to a bloodier scenario than the present one.

In their apocalyptic horizon of intense war, they think that the exceptionalism that "Israel" receives from Europe and the US would make two objectives possible. The first, at a certain level of confrontation, and given that "Israel's" limited reserves of missiles and bombs are mostly tied to those provided by the US and Europe, is to open the Pandora's Box of nuclear weapons, seeking to impose atomic exclusivity in the region through their use. The second, by exploring a chaotic conflagration with perhaps hundreds of thousands of deaths in the region, including a multitude of Israelis, is to exploit the Western ghosts of the “mass extermination of Jews” and to reach the desired point for the Palestinian question. If the manipulation of what happened on October 7 has sheltered the current Palestinian holocaust, Zionist leaders believe that countless Israeli corpses on the table would grant them impunity for a “final solution” to the emptying of Gaza.

The US has had to do damage control with Yemen, so being dragged into a chaotic war with Iran would prompt catastrophic scenarios that the powers in Washington do not want. They know that it entails the destruction of their military bases in the region, the entire world economy hit by a skyrocketing oil price, the loss of US power in the Middle East, and the definitive swing to another world order. Even if their wishes coincide with those of "Israel regarding the disappearance of the Palestinians and use similar language with their ambassador to the UN calling the Palestinians “proxies of Iran”, as Netanyahu has been calling them for many years, the immediate objective of the US is to attempt a scenario similar to that that unfolded in Lebanon in 1982 when the Palestinian armed forces were expelled from that country. The US will seek in the first instance to expel the Palestinian Resistance from Gaza and then continue in the longer term to banish the rest of the unarmed population. But Palestine is the land of the Palestinians, not a foreign country they took refuge in, like Lebanon or Jordan in 1973, so their strategy is also doomed to failure.

At this crossroads, it is not clear to what extent the US metropolis controls all the actions of its settlers in Palestine, although it is and will be responsible for past and future crimes, including the possibility of their breaking the taboo on the use of nuclear weapons.

History tells us that the settlers will seek an extreme change of scenery by means of terrorist attacks, and "Israel" has announced this in its current impasse. What history also tells us is that, despite such desperate actions, neither the settlers in Algeria nor in South Africa managed to prevent the demise of their regimes, and eventually, the colonial powers had to let the existing artificial entities fall. The same will happen in Palestine in a few years. The key is whether Europe and the US intend to reach that point by completing the journey through an unimaginable abyss of death and regional devastation.
