Civilian casualties from bombing or other explosive violence have reached a record high in 2024, with 61,353 civilians killed or injured; a 67% increase from 2023, according to Action on Armed Violence (AOAV). Israeli wars accounted for 55% of these casualties (33,910), followed by the war in Ukraine at 19% (11,693). Gaza was the hardest-hit region, comprising 39% of all casualties, with over 23,600 deaths reported. The report highlighted that AOAV's findings undercount the true toll, as it based its study on English-language reports only.
CNN leaks audio exposing Trump threatening Putin to bomb Moscow if it 'goes into Ukraine
CNN has released an exclusive audio recording in which US President Donald Trump claims he issued direct threats to Russian and Chinese leaders, warning he would bomb their capitals if they launched military offensives against Ukraine or Taiwan. The audio was recorded at a 2024 campaign fundraiser, where Trump recounted past conversations with Russia's President Vladimir Putin and China's President Xi Jinping. “If you go into Ukraine, I’m gonna bomb the sh** out of Moscow,” Trump said he told Putin, adding that the Russian President “believed me 10%.” He also claimed to have delivered a similar message to Xi, threatening to “bomb the sh** out of Beijing” if China moved on Taiwan. The recording surfaced just days after Trump reportedly held a phone call with Putin. Despite previously vowing to swiftly end the Russia-Ukraine war, Trump recently acknowledged that no significant progress had been made and admitted, “I don’t know” if he can stop it.
