Beijing urges the US to stop unreasonable pressure on Chinese companies.

The US should stop politicizing trade and economic relations and stop putting pressure on Chinese enterprises, according to Chinese Commerce Ministry Spokesperson Gao Feng on Thursday.

"The US side should immediately stop unreasonable pressure on Chinese companies, immediately stop the wrong practice of politicizing economic and trade issues, and create a fair and stable market environment for companies from all over the world, including Chinese companies," the Spokesperson told a briefing.

The official also stated that the US continues to intentionally suppress the activities of Chinese telecommunications businesses for no apparent reason and that China would vigorously protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.

He also stated that China will maintain normal commercial and trade relations with Russia and Ukraine.

China to protect national companies' interests

Yesterday, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian stressed that China will resolutely protect the rights and interests of national companies in the event of unilateral sanctions by the US.

When asked about the prospects for US sanctions against China for its stance on the Ukraine crisis, Zhao pointed out that "China opposes any form of unilateral US sanctions and will resolutely protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies and individuals."

The Chinese Spokesperson also underscored that Beijing also urges Washington not to harm China's legitimate rights and interests in any way, noting that sanctions have never been an effective way to solve problems.
