'Israel' admits soldier killed, 5 wounded in Jenin confrontation
An Israeli soldier was killed and five others injured during confrontations with Palestinian fighters in the Jenin refugee camp of the occupied West Bank.
An Israeli soldier was killed and five others were injured in a confrontation with Palestinian fighters in Jenin, according to an official statement from the Israeli occupation forces (IOF).
Doron Kedosh, a correspondent for the Israeli Army Radio, reported that an IOF unit conducted a search operation in the buildings of the Jenin refugee camp. Upon entering one of the structures, the troops encountered two armed Palestinian fighters who had fortified themselves inside the building. The fighters launched close-range attacks on the advancing soldiers.
The clashes resulted in the death of one Israeli soldier and left five others wounded, including one with serious injuries, three with moderate wounds, and one with minor injuries. The two Palestinian fighters managed to escape the building after exchanging fire with the Israeli forces.
In response, the Jenin Brigade of the al-Qassam Brigades announced that its fighters had engaged in fierce battles with Israeli forces, showering their troops and military vehicles with heavy gunfire, causing confirmed casualties.
Intense confrontations
Intense confrontations continued between Palestinian resistance fighters and Israeli occupation forces in multiple areas inside the Jenin refugee camp on Thursday, as part of efforts to repel the ongoing Israeli aggression in the West Bank.
Al-Quds Brigades – Jenin Battalion announced that its fighters had detonated a KJ37 roadside bomb targeting an Israeli military jeep near the al-Hisan axis, confirming direct hits on Israeli vehicles.
Meanwhile, al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades reported that its fighters, in coordination with al-Qassam Brigades and al-Quds Brigades, successfully detonated a high-powered explosive device near an Israeli military vehicle at the al-Hisan roundabout in Jenin, inflicting direct casualties.
In response to Israeli Security Minister Israel Katz’s claims of victory in Jenin, al-Quds Brigades – Jenin Battalion confirmed that its fighters had executed a complex operation, luring an Israeli Golani Brigade infantry unit into a booby-trapped house before detonating it, causing fatalities and injuries among Israeli forces.
Following the attack, the Israeli military acknowledged the death of one soldier and the severe injury of two others in the ambush.
Israeli aggression on Jenin continues
Israeli forces have maintained their assault on Jenin and its refugee camp for the tenth consecutive day, blocking medical teams from providing aid. In the latest incident, occupation forces attacked a Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance and prevented medics from reaching a gunshot victim near the camp entrance. The siege on Jenin remains in place, with continued destruction of civilian property and infrastructure.
Meanwhile, in Tulkarm, the al-Quds Brigades – Tulkarm Battalion announced that its fighters had engaged Israeli forces near Nur Shams refugee camp, targeting military vehicles with intense gunfire and explosive devices.
Commenting on the ongoing battle in Jenin, the al-Quds Brigades commander in the West Bank stated that resistance fighters continue to ambush Israeli forces and military vehicles. He revealed that in recent days, resistance groups introduced advanced roadside and guided explosive devices, adding that the detonation of Israeli military jeeps in Qabatiya and Tubas was merely a message of what awaits occupation forces in the streets and alleys of the West Bank.
The commander also emphasized the formation of joint operations rooms, coordinating field efforts between the al-Quds Brigades, al-Qassam Brigades, and other resistance groups, citing the Qalqilya hotel operation as proof that resistance fighters can strike anywhere.
Addressing the role of Palestinian Authority security forces, he accused them of working alongside the Israeli occupation in raiding towns and besieging wounded resistance fighters in hospitals and medical centers in an attempt to ease the occupation’s mission.
Reassuring Palestinians, the commander affirmed that resistance fighters remain in high spirits, declaring: “The army that failed to claim victory against Gaza’s fighters will not achieve it in the West Bank. The cities and refugee camps of the West Bank will only deliver coffins for Israeli commanders and soldiers.”
