Israeli warplanes launched a series of airstrikes on Friday evening, targeting several valleys and forested areas in southern Lebanon amid heightened tensions along the border.

An Al Mayadeen correspondent in southern Lebanon reported that Israeli fighter jets bombed Wadi Zibqin and the area between Aita al-Shaab and Beit Yahoun. Later, additional strikes were reported near the Litani River on the outskirts of al-Ayshieh.

The Israeli military also targeted a valley between the towns of Ansar and Zrariyeh, as well as the Tibna area on the outskirts of Baysariyeh, with heavy air activity reported over most of southern Lebanon.

Earlier in the day, Israeli forces opened fire on civilians in the town of Kafr Kila, injuring three people.

The escalation comes amid ongoing cross-border hostilities, as Israeli strikes continue to hit various locations in southern Lebanon.

The Lebanese Army Command stated on Thursday that "the Israeli occupation continues its violations of Lebanon's sovereignty by land, sea, and air, with the latest incidents including a series of attacks targeting civilians in the south and the Bekaa region in eastern Lebanon, in addition to its ongoing occupation of Lebanese territory and repeated breaches of the land borders."

In its statement, the Lebanese Army warned that "Israel's persistent aggressions threaten the country's stability and negatively impact regional security," emphasizing that such actions "are in complete violation of the ceasefire agreement."

The army also announced that its military units "continue to facilitate the return of residents to the southern areas by clearing unexploded ordnance, removing debris, and reopening roads."

It confirmed that it is monitoring the situation and taking necessary measures in coordination with the Quintet Committee overseeing the ceasefire agreement and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

Attacks against civilians

Meanwhile, Al Mayadeen’s correspondent in Southern Lebanon reported on Thursday that two civilians were wounded after being fired upon by Israeli forces near the buffer zone in Tall Nahas, north of Kfar Kila.

Additionally, a shepherd was injured on the outskirts of Rmeish after an Israeli drone dropped a stun grenade on him Thursday afternoon.

Since the ceasefire agreement took effect in Lebanon on November 27, 2024, the Israeli occupation has committed more than 1,000 violations, including airstrikes, artillery shelling, reconnaissance flights, and machine gun fire, resulting in nearly 400 casualties.

Despite nearly four months passing since the war's end, the Israeli regime continues to occupy Lebanese territories in the south, specifically five strategic Lebanese hills, without any announced plans for withdrawal.

Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raji denied in an interview with Al Mayadeen the existence of any "tripartite agreement" allowing "Israel" to maintain its occupation of Lebanese land.
