'Israel' is walking into the abyss: Israeli media
An op-ed published by Maariv discusses how the Israeli government continues making choices that jeopardize "Israel" and lead it to potentially greater threats and wars.
Israeli Channel 13's military analyst, Alon Ben David, said that Israelis who were fans of popular disaster movies from the 70s and 80s have become "actors in a real-life adaptation, but do not realize it yet, thinking they are watchers."
In an op-ed published by the Israeli Maariv newspaper, Ben David found that the Israeli audience continues to listen to daily reports of occupation soldiers being killed in a non-ending war, but leads an ordinary life, and watches "Israel" fall into the abyss but acts like a bystander as a car crashes.
"We have been nearing the junction of a strategic T-shaped road for two months: Steering to the right leads us to a prisoner-exchange deal (even if it was a partial agreement) and the end of the extensive war against Gaza, as well as a potential agreement in the North and entire region. Steering to the left, however, leads to the abandonment of the Israeli hostages and a definite path toward a large-scale regional war," he wrote.
In this context, Ben David says the audience must look up from their phones and recognize the path "Israel" is on, affirming that it took the wrong turn.
Meanwhile, the Americans play the role of the flight attendants who reassure passengers that they are only "air pockets" and that everything will be alright, but the pilot (Netanyahu) has already made the decision to fly the plane towards the mountain, he added.
'Netanyahu's decisions to destroy 'Israel'
According to Ben David, Netanyahu's insistence on staying in the Philadelphi and Netzarim Axes obstructs all changes of a prisoner-exchange deal, leads to broad regional confrontations, and an endless war in Gaza.
He further emphasized that the greater threat comes from within "Israel", not Hezbollah or Iran, with the presence of "reckless anarchists in government" who have transformed into an organized mechanism aiming at dismantling institutions that have not yet complied with its will, by continuously attacking the IOF, Mossad, and Shin Bet.
Ben David considered that "if October 7 was the beginning of Israel's disintegration and the spark of war with the entire surrounding area, then instead of praying for its end, they are doing everything to accelerate it."
He called on the heads of the security apparatuses to "not quietly say what needs to be yelled", but to "raise their voices and wake the dormant Israeli public which seems to be living inside a bubble."
Ben David concluded by saying, "This week, the prime minister chose to continue the war, on all fronts. As always, neither he nor anyone in his family will pay the price for this choice. We will pay the price for it."
'It's a war on everything and we must win'
In a related context, "Israel's" Maariv news website reported that the Israeli occupation's foreign minister, Israel Katz, proclaimed that the threat in the West Bank should be addressed similarly to Gaza.
After making the comparison, Katz noted that "Israel" is seeking the "temporary evacuation of the residents in the Jenin and Tulkarm camps" which, following his comparison to the genocide in the Strip, would translate to widespread massacres, given the intention to "eliminate" what he referred to as the "terrorist infrastructure" within the camps.
Katz further claimed that Iran is working to establish a "terrorist front" in the West Bank against "Israel", following the Gaza and Lebanon models, referring to the Resistance movements.
According to Katz, Iran has sought to achieve that through "funding and arming militants and smuggling advanced weapons through Jordan."
In his latest post on X, on Wednesday, Katz said, "It is a war on everything, and we must win it."
