'Israel' kills prominent Syrian businessman on Syrian-Lebanese border
The Israeli occupation forces conducted a drone strike on the Syrian-Lebanese border, killing a Syrian businessman.
The Israeli occupation forces carried out a drone strike targeting Syrian businessman Baraa Katerji near the Lebanese-Syrian border on Monday, three security sources told Reuters.
Katerji was a key businessman in Syria and the region. Alongside his brother, Hussam, Baraa Katerji managed to garner businesses in the oil, logistics, transport, and construction sectors.
The Katerji brothers and their businesses have been subject to draconian sanctions from the United States as they were scrutinized for aiding the Syrian government by facilitating oil shipments.
The drone strike, in violation of Syria's sovereignty, follows on the heels of severe airstrikes that targeted several army sites around the capital of Damascus on Sunday, which killed one Syrian soldier and wounded several others.
"The aggression was launched from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting several of our military sites in the southern region and a residential building in the Kafr Sousa area in Damascus," the source said.
Despite the large number of missiles, Syrian air defenses intercepted a significant number of them, the source added as per SANA.
