Al-Qassam infiltrates Israeli held positions, destroys Merkava, rig
Palestinian Resistance fighters conducted two top-tier operations in eastern Khan Younis, targeting Israeli military vehicles and soldiers.
Palestinian Resistance fighters continue to conduct top-tier operations, facing off the Israeli war machine via their locally-produced weaponry.
On Friday, Hamas' al-Qassam Brigades conducted two remarkable operations in the Sufa region, on the eastern extremities of the city of Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip.
In the first operation announced by the Brigades on Friday, its Military Media Unit said the al-Qassam fighters fired two tandem rocket-propelled grenades, al-Yassin shells, at an Israeli drilling rig in the area.
The rig is used by Israeli combat engineers for operational purposes in the Gaza Strip, including search operations for the Resistance's extensive tunnel system.
Soldiers operating near the rig were also targeted in the attack, with multiple casualties reported.
Later in the afternoon, the Israeli military command released an assessment of the situation in the Gaza Strip, claiming that it has now defeated the Palestinian Resistance militarily and will only need some time to dismantle the remaining fighters.
Around the same time that the information was disseminated via Israeli media outlets, the al-Qassam Brigades announced that its fighters destroyed an Israeli Mekava 4 main battle tank in the same area where the aforementioned operation took place.
This axis has seen intense fighting since late 2023, as well as multiple Israeli invasion and infiltration campaigns.
Yet, the al-Qassam fighters used their locally-produced weapons to destroy yet another Israeli tank, killing and injuring its crew members. At least two casualties arrived at a hospital in Tel Aviv from the Gaza Strip via a military helicopter, according to Israeli media outlets, pointing to the extent of some of the injuries suffered.
Israeli forces also claim that the main goal is to retrieve the 101 captives remaining in the Strip despite 12 months of fighting.
"If we wait, it is not certain that there will be anyone to return," the IOF said.
In another operation, the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades said its fighters executed a rocket attack, using 107 mm rockets, at the Israeli command and control center in the Netzarim Axis.
This axis splits the northern Gaza Strip, including Gaza City, from the rest of the besieged territory. It has also been a main launching point for Israeli onslaughts on the northern and central Gaza Strip.
The Palestinian Resistance's operations come after 357 days of war on Gaza, one that has seen an unprecedented amount of bombing, shelling, and criminal murder of an entire people in recent times.
