Amir-Abdollahian meets Hamas chief, Qatari Emir in Doha
In a visit to Qatar, Iran's Foreign Minister meets officials and affirms Iran's continuous support for the Palestinian Resistance.
In a visit to Qatar today, Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met with the Chief of Hamas' Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh and the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to discuss regional issues and developments.
In the meeting, the Iranian FM reiterated "the Islamic Republic of Iran's support for the legitimate defense and Resistance of the Palestinian people against the Zionist entity's occupation."
Haniyeh met with Abdollahian at the Iranian Embassy in Doha. The meeting was attended by Hamas officials, such as Mousa Abu Marzook and Khalil Al-Hayya, as well as Iran's Ambassador to Qatar, Hamid Reza Dehghani-Poudeh.
"The positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran toward the Palestinian cause are principled and consistent," Amir-Abdollahian affirmed, noting that Iran "condemns crimes and attacks on Palestinian sanctities."
Haniyeh, on his part, praised Iran's "support for the Palestinian people," calling for "Arab and international stances against Zionist arrogance."
The Minister and the Emir
The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, spoke with Iranian FM Amir-Abdollahian and his Iranian delegation at the Emiri Diwan in Doha.
The Emir stressed the importance of bilateral relations between Iran and Qatar, capitalizing on the importance of expanding cooperation on regional and bilateral matters.
Amir-Abdollahian, on his eighth stop in his series of meetings today, conveyed Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi's greetings to the Emir and went over developments between the two countries in a number of political, commercial, security, and economic fields. Opportunities to develop and improve bilateral relations in the economic scope were also discussed.
The Iranian FM also addressed Iran's vision for the region as well as Tehran's preparations for improving bilateral and multilateral relations with regional countries.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry explained that the meeting discussed "the latest developments related to the nuclear talks in Vienna regarding lifting the unjust sanctions [off Iran] and issues related to Afghanistan and Yemen."
Amir-Abdollahian speaks to his counterpart
The Iranian Foreign Minister also held talks with his Qatari counterpart, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. The two sides discussed ways to develop bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as issues of common interest.
The Qatari Foreign Minister expressed his country's aspiration to expand cooperation with Iran, especially in the economic field.
The Iranian Foreign Minister arrived in Doha at dawn today, Tuesday, coming from Muscat. Amir-Abdollahian visited the Sultanate of Oman to hold talks with officials with the aim of strengthening bilateral relations and discussing issues of common interest.
