Hospitals in North turned into 'mass graves' by Israeli strikes
The director general of Gaza’s Ministry of Health, Munir al-Bursh, has described the dire situation in northern Gaza, under total Israeli blockade and ground offensives for over 100 days, as “hell".
Speaking on Sunday, al-Bursh said, “The situation is literally like hell,” highlighting relentless Israeli assaults and the blockade on food supplies for medical staff trapped in hospitals in the region.
He further stated, “Hospitals in northern Gaza have turned into mass graves,” emphasizing the catastrophic toll on civilians and healthcare facilities.
Al-Bursh attributed the destruction of hospitals and infrastructure in northern Gaza to deliberate efforts by "Israel" to depopulate the area.
“The Israeli occupation has been deliberately destroying the health system since the very first moment,” he stressed.
“The destruction of hospitals was the greatest evidence of the [Israeli] genocide,” he went on to say.
According to al-Bursh, since the beginning of "Israel’s offensive in northern Gaza in early October 2024, approximately 5,000 people have been killed or are missing, with 9,500 others injured. He also noted that Israeli occupation forces have abducted about 2,300 individuals, including 65 medical personnel, during the ongoing campaign.
