Egypt, Turkey, UAE, commit aid to Lebanon among others
The European Union, Turkey, the UAE, France, and Egypt, are some of the countries that offered assistance for the Lebanese people.
Amid the Israeli aggression on Lebanon and its targeting of civilian residential areas, killing hundreds, approximately a million people have abandoned their homes in search of safety in other regions of Lebanon or neighboring Syria, primarily taking refuge in schools with scant supplies.
A number of countries have pledged to aid Lebanon, whose population has been grappling with a number of crises over the past 5 years, including an economic crisis.
European Union
On Sunday, the European Union launched a humanitarian aid package of 10 million euros ($11.2 million) to assist individuals in Lebanon affected by the aggression to help with protection, food assistance, shelter, and healthcare, according to a statement from the European Commission.
Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia has promised help to the Lebanese people, with aid including medical support, according to state news agency SPA.
"The Kingdom has reiterated its commitment to standing by the Lebanese people as they face the challenges arising from the current circumstances, stressing the importance of addressing the humanitarian repercussions," the news agency said.
Egypt
On Sunday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi ordered the urgent shipment of essential medical and humanitarian supplies to Lebanon, and during a phone discussion with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Sisi emphasized Egypt's ongoing support for Lebanon at all levels.
Jordan
Also on Sunday, Jordan's armed forces deployed a cargo plane bringing humanitarian goods to the Lebanese army to help address the country's challenging situation.
International Development Minister Ahmed Hussen said on Saturday that Canada will contribute $10 million in humanitarian assistance to people in Lebanon.
France
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot visited Lebanon on Sunday to oversee the delivery of humanitarian supplies, which included 12 tons of medical equipment to treat 1,000 badly injured individuals.
"We will always stand by the civilians," Barrot stated, and according to the French Foreign Ministry, Barrot spoke with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Saturday and stated that Paris was asking for "an immediate halt to Israeli strikes in Lebanon" and was "opposed to any ground operation."
France also "calls on other actors, notably Hezbollah and Iran, to abstain from any action that could lead to additional destabilization and regional conflagration," the statement read.
Turkey
According to Anadolu news agency, a Turkish airplane arrived in Lebanon last Wednesday with medical help and supplies for the Lebanese health system.
UAE
On Monday, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan committed to help Lebanon with an immediate relief package of $100 million, according to the state news agency.
The action was part of the country's ongoing efforts to assist Lebanon in overcoming its present problems, "underscoring the nation's unwavering commitment to assisting the Lebanese people," it stated.
'Israel' expands aggression, intensifies strikes on Bekaa, Hermel
Al Mayadeen's correspondent in the Lebanese Bekaa reported a series of relentless Israeli raids targeting areas stretching from West Bekaa to its north and Hermel, after midnight on Monday.
The Israeli attacks expanded overnight and killed 11 citizens in an initial toll, following yesterday's toll of 60 killed.
An Israeli attack earlier today on Sidon was reported to be a massacre, with 45 civilians killed so far, and dozens injured.
An elderly woman was killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting a home in Nabi Othman in northern Bekaa. Strikes also targeted Sohmor, Libbaya, and Mashghara in West Bekaa.
In the Baalbek province, the city of Baalbek came under attack, as well as Hawsh al-Sayyed Ali to the north of the Hermel province, near the Lebanese-Syrian borders and Nabi Othman.
The death toll in Hermel and its surroundings has risen to 12 martyrs as a result.
The Israeli aggression also targeted the city of Jdeidat Yabous between Lebanon and Syria.
During the early hours of Monday, the Israeli occupation struck the al-Bass refugee camp in Sour, South Lebanon. Several casualties were confirmed, including the head of the Teachers' Union in Lebanon at UNRWA, Fateh al-Sharif, who was killed alongside his wife, son, and daughter.
