A report published by the Israeli newspaper Maariv has exposed what it terms a "collapse" of the invading Israeli units during the ongoing war on Gaza, underscoring a deepening crisis at the heart of its military and strategic planning.
The report contrasts what it dubs as the "successes" of the Air Force, particularly its long-range strikes on Iranian targets, with the glaring deficiencies of ground operations.
The piece points to a long-standing imbalance within the military establishment, warning that "Israel’s" overreliance on air power has come at the expense of adequately developing ground capabilities and fortifying the home front. This neglect, it argues, has left the entity vulnerable and unprepared for the realities of modern warfare.
Strategic stagnation and operational setbacks
According to Maariv, both military and political leadership have failed to understand the profound shifts in contemporary war, where effective ground operations and internal resilience are just as vital, if not more so, than air superiority. The newspaper accuses leadership circles of ignoring these transformations, resulting in strategic stagnation and operational setbacks.
Describing the war on Gaza as “misguided", the report states that it has drained Israeli military strength without achieving core objectives, including the dismantling of the Palestinian Resistance or the release of captives. Instead of yielding results, the war, as per the report, has become a costly quagmire, further exposing institutional weakness.
Mounting threats compound crisis
In a final, sobering assessment, the piece warns of mounting threats, both internal dissent and external pressures, arguing that the war no longer serves clear security aims but instead appears driven by “narrow political interests.” The lack of a coherent strategic vision, Maariv concludes, has turned the "Gaza operation into a glaring symptom of a deeper internal crisis".
This comes as the Israeli army suffers heavy losses in deadly ambushes, highlighting the capabilities of the Palestinian Resistance in Gaza, particularly in areas like Khan Younis, where Israeli forces remain vulnerable to unconventional and asymmetrical tactics. The Israeli occupation forces announced on June 25 that seven of their personnel, consisting of one officer and six soldiers, had been killed during a lethal ambush executed by the Palestinian Resistance in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, "Israel" continues its genocidal war on Gaza, with dozens of Palestinians being killed on a daily basis across the Strip, and especially around aid distribution points.
