Hezbollah MP Raad meets Speaker Berri, discusses ceasefire, presidency
Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc MP Mohammad Mohammad Raad makes his first public appearance since the ceasefire during a meeting with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.
In his first public appearance since the end of the war, and just five days before the scheduled session for electing the president, Hezbollah's parliamentary bloc leader, MP Mohammad Raad, visited Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri in the latter's Ain al-Tineh residence on Saturday.
Following the meeting, Raad conveyed a message from Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem to Speaker Berri and stated that they had discussed the next steps for the ceasefire monitoring committee and the presidential election.
Raad emphasized that "reform can only be achieved if it is comprehensive and directed toward serving national and public interests, not sectarian agendas."
He added, "Let us harness our capabilities and our Lebanese identity to preserve our country and live together with dignity while safeguarding the rights of all. We remain committed to the path of our martyrs and will not deviate from our principles. We will address all new developments based on these principles."
Furthermore, Raad pointed out that "the Israeli enemy continues to commit disgraceful violations to compensate for its field failures," stressing that "protecting national sovereignty is everyone's duty." He also remarked that "the enemy continues to breach the ceasefire agreement to address its inferiority complex."
