Iran planning 'harsh response' to Israeli aggression: Security source
Iranian officials vow a "harsh and decisive" response to the latest Israeli aggression that targeted the country's nuclear program, military leaders, and scientists.

Iran is planning "a harsh response" to the Israeli aggression launched early on Friday, an Iranian security source told Reuters.
Later, the General Staff of Iran's Armed Forces confirmed that "the aggressive action carried out by the Zionist regime, which attacked parts of the country, including civilian and military areas, led to the martyrdom and injury of a number of dear citizens."
The General Staff vowed a harsh response to all parties involved in the aggression against Iran.
"By order of the Leader [Sayyed Ali Khamenei], the response of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the leaders, perpetrators, and supporters of this aggression will be devastating, overwhelming, and regrettable," the General Staff emphasized.
The Israeli occupation military confirmed early Friday the launch of a broad aerial offensive targeting Iran’s nuclear program.
In an official statement, the occupation military said it carried out a “precise, preemptive strike” in Iran, “with the goal of damaging Iran’s nuclear program."
"The retaliation to the Israeli attack will be harsh and decisive," the Iranian official emphasized, adding that details of Iran's retaliation are being discussed at the highest levels when asked whether the attack would be imminent.
Iran's official news agency IRNA also quoted sources as saying that Tehran is planning "a decisive response" to the latest Israeli aggression.
Iranian TV quoted the spokesman for the chief of staff of the armed forces as saying that "Israel" and the United States will pay a heavy price for the latest aggression.
The spokesman said that the Israeli attack targeted residential areas, vowing that the inevitable Iranian response will be proportional
The assessment presented to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicates that an Iranian response is likely within hours, Israeli Army Radio reported.
According to the news outlet, the assessment is that hundreds of ballistic missiles will be launched in Iran’s first strike.
The Iranian television reported that the Israeli aggression targeted the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps' headquarters building in Tehran.
Al Mayadeen's sources confirmed the martyrdom of the Commander-in-Chief of the IRGC, Major General Hossein Salami.
Our correspondent also reported the martyrdom of nuclear scientists Fereydoon Abbasi and Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi as a result of the Israeli aggression.
