Iran's FM Araghchi arrives in Damascus, affirms solidarity with Syria
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has arrived in Damascus, Syria, ahead of talks regarding the current situation.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Damascus to reiterate Tehran’s unwavering support for Syria amid the activation of foreign-backed Takfiri terrorist groups in the country.
Araghchi and his delegation arrived in the Syrian capital on Sunday to deliver a message of steadfast support for the Syrian Army and government from Tehran, based on what he told reporters before departing.
He emphasized that Iran sees no difference between the Israeli regime and Takfiri terrorists, stating, "We believe that following the Israeli regime’s failures, the enemy is trying to implement its sinister goals of spreading insecurity in the region via these same terrorist groups."
Araghchi expressed confidence that based on precedents, the Syrian Army would prevail against these groups.
This comes as terrorist units advanced southward towards the city of Hama, showcasing that a coordinated counterattack by the Syrian army appears to be taking shape.
The Syrian Ministry of Defense announced that it had bolstered its defensive lines in northern Hama countryside to repel the advance, after previously promising to launch a counteroffensive to reclaim all lost territories.
Terrorist groups, in this context, described "fierce" ongoing battles in north Hama.
It is worth noting that Araghchi is set to visit multiple regional countries for discussions on recent developments, with a particular focus on the situation in Syria, where militants affiliated with the Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, supported by thousands of foreign mercenaries, heavy weaponry, and numerous drones, launched a large-scale offensive from multiple fronts in Aleppo and Idlib.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Bagaei announced that Araghchi will depart Tehran on Sunday for Damascus to hold consultations with Syrian officials.
Following his visit to Syria, Araghchi is scheduled to travel to Ankara for talks with Turkish officials. Bagaei also noted that the Foreign Minister will visit an additional country during this diplomatic tour.
