Iran's naval innovation: Chamrosh-4 VTOL drone takes center stage
The drone possesses the capability to smoothly take off from and land vertically on all types of naval vessels' decks, executing assigned missions effectively.
The Navy of the Islamic Republic of Iran has revealed a domestically created vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) drone, along with a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) designed for various autonomous marine operations.
These homegrown military advancements were showcased at an exhibition attended by Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, the Chief Commander of the Iranian Army, Rear Admiral Shahram Irani, the Iranian Navy Commander, and several high-ranking military officials and state representatives in Tehran on Saturday.
Named Chamrosh-4, the VTOL drone, inspired by a bird in Persian mythology residing on Mount Alborz's summit, incorporates cost-efficient technologies.

The drone possesses the capability to smoothly take off from and land vertically on all types of naval vessels' decks, executing assigned missions effectively.
Additionally, the ROV is equipped to autonomously detect, locate, and neutralize anchored naval mines. The ROV is reported to have the capacity to transport payloads to mines and eliminate them.
Navy progress 'unbelievable'
During the exhibition, a diverse array of maritime weapons, anti-ship missile systems, advanced surveillance equipment, telecommunications systems, electronic warfare systems, and domestically manufactured advanced components were presented.
This comes shortly after the leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Sayyed Ali Khamenei, met with a group of commanders and officials in the Iranian Navy, on November 28, where he touched on naval economic policies, new capabilities in the naval force, and economic policies in place to vitalize hope in the Iranian society.
Ayatollah Khamenei termed the progress of the navy since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution as "impressive" and "unbelievable" on the day that marks the National Day of the Navy in Iran's calendar.
In the first years of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the presence of the navy beyond territorial waters was unimaginable, but now the navy travels around the world with strength and returns to the country with pride, the leader said.
The two key policies of Iran's naval forces, according to Sayyed Khamenei, are extending influence in the sea and relying on technology.
The big picture
In recent years, Iranian military experts and engineers have achieved significant breakthroughs in producing a wide range of domestically produced equipment, ensuring self-sufficiency for the armed forces.
