Iran's Raisi arrives in Turkey for Supreme Economic Council
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has arrived in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, to partake in discussions related to the Supreme Economic Council and to foster stronger bilateral relations.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has landed in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, to participate in the Supreme Economic Council and engage in discussions on enhancing bilateral relations.
Raisi, before departing to Turkey from Mehrabad Airport, affirmed that his visit to the northwestern neighboring country would involve discussions aimed at enhancing bilateral relations, particularly in the economic and commercial domains.
"Turkey is a neighboring Muslim country and an important commercial and economic partner of Iran, and we have set a target for our commercial and economic relations to reach 30 billion dollars. He added this goal can be achieved with the existing capacities," he added.
Iran and Turkey are on the same page
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi arrived in Turkey on January 4 where he met his Turkish counterpart, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip according to Turkish media citing sources.
Reportedly, Erdogan gave Raisi proposals prepared by Ankara for a settlement in the Gaza Strip.
Raisi, who was Erdogan's first guest in 2024, aimed to hold a closed meeting with the Turkish president ahead of the 8th meeting of the Turkish-Iranian High-Level Cooperation Council the media reported.
The key topics on the meeting's agenda, according to reports, were predominantly regarding the Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip, ways to stop the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, and how to establish a permanent ceasefire.
Alongside the topic of occupied Palestine, Turkey, and Iran were said to have discussed ways to develop trade and energy partnerships, as well as defense industry cooperation and the signing of related agreements.
