UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a phone call on Tuesday to address growing regional tensions, particularly those involving Iran. The conversation comes at a time of heightened instability and continued aggression in the region.
During the call, Mohammed bin Zayed emphasized that the UAE has begun broad consultations aimed at reducing tensions and restoring regional peace and stability.
Israeli aggression main destabilizing factor
President Pezeshkian, meanwhile, squarely placed responsibility for the ongoing unrest on Israeli policies and the unwavering Western support behind them. He stated that "the region will never witness peace so long as Israeli crimes persist and are shielded by Western powers."
Pezeshkian further noted that Iran had engaged in indirect negotiations with the United States in pursuit of stability, but these efforts were undermined by "Israel's" continued aggression, which targeted Iranian civilians.
He stressed, "We have worked to build stronger cooperation with other nations, but Israel has persistently attempted to sabotage these efforts from the very beginning, starting with the assassination of martyr Haniyeh."
‘Israel’ targets civilians in Tehran
The emergency department at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini hospital was hit by a surge of injuries late Sunday night following direct Israeli airstrikes on the city. Medical staff described the aftermath as a “bloodbath” as victims from nearby blasts overwhelmed the facility.
“It was a bloodbath. We were overwhelmed by chaos and the screams of grieving family members. Dozens upon dozens of people with life-threatening injuries, minor wounds, and even bodies were brought in,” one doctor, speaking on condition of anonymity, told The Guardian.
The Israeli war on Iran, now entering its fifth day, has rapidly overwhelmed the medical infrastructure in the capital. Doctors and nurses face an unrelenting stream of wounded patients amid continuing attacks, forcing some hospitals to redirect non-critical patients to other facilities.
