Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on Saturday that a return to diplomacy remains possible if Israeli aggression ceases immediately. Speaking amid ongoing regional tensions, Araghchi emphasized that Iran is prepared to re-engage diplomatically, provided the attacks come to a halt.
“If the aggression stops, the groundwork for a return to diplomacy will be available,” he said, signaling Tehran’s conditional openness to de-escalation.
Araghchi also praised the performance of Iran’s armed forces, saying they are “bravely and capably ensuring the security of the country” in the face of recent Israeli attacks.
The foreign minister noted that condemnation of the Israeli strikes has been widespread across the region. “Nearly all countries in the region have clearly condemned the Israeli aggression,” he said, highlighting that “the Saudi foreign minister was the first to call me.”
He added that he is in “daily contact with most foreign ministers in the region,” cautioning that “the fire ignited by Israel could spiral out of control.”
Attacks to face a decisive response
Araghchi’s comments come as Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Sunday that while Iran does not seek war, continued Israeli aggression backed by the US will face a strong and decisive response.
"The United States is undoubtedly playing a direct role in the Israeli military operations," Pezeshkian stated during a cabinet session, as reported by Fars news agency. He noted that the ongoing attacks on Iranian territory are not unilateral acts by Tel Aviv, but the result of calculated coordination with Washington.
Pezeshkian revealed that US envoy Steve Witkoff had told Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi that "Israel cannot do anything without Washington's permission." He added, "Israel's actions are being carried out with the direct approval of the United States."
True Promise 3, Day 3: Impacts recorded across 'Israel'
Iran has launched waves of ballistic missiles on Sunday evening, targeting wide areas in the occupied territories, as it continues its retaliation against the Israeli aggressions on its soil.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported that a massive wave of ballistic missiles launched from central and western provinces of Iran was launched towards "Israel". Israeli media later stated that another batch of missiles was launched, citing a security source, with several impacts recorded.
Our correspondent also explained that Iran's Armed Forces used novel weapons in tonight's attacks.
Israeli media reported that a building was directly impacted in Haifa, with explosions sounding all over the area in addition to al-Quds, while on the other hand, Israeli Channel 12 reported impacts in the northern Occupied Territories, with one account of a building impacted in the area and concerns that it could collapse. Later reports by Israeli media recorded seven injuries as a result of the impact in Haifa.
Israeli media also revealed that several direct hits were recorded throughout "Israel", one of which was of a particularly sensitive nature.
