Iranian Interior Minister rebukes world silence on Shah Cheragh attack
The Iranian Interior Minister says the silence of the international community that claims to defend human rights will promote further acts of terrorism.
The Chief Justice of Fars province, Kazem Mousavi, confirmed on Monday that four suspects have been arrested so far on charges of involvement in Sunday's terrorist attack that targeted the Shah Cheragh shrine in Iran’s southern city of Shiraz, Iranian news agency Mehr reported.
Later, the figure was updated to 10.
The attack, which was claimed by ISIS, resulted in one death and eight injuries.
"With the investigations carried out so far, four suspects linked to this incident have been arrested," Mousavi said.
The Chief Justice pointed out that the main terrorist who opened fire at people in the shrine was immediately arrested and handed over to investigators for interrogation.
State-run Iranian media had mentioned that two terrorists were involved in the attack, one of whom was immediately arrested while the other remains at large.

It is noteworthy that the Shah Cheragh shrine witnessed a similar attack on October 26, 2022, when an armed terrorist opened fire at people in the shrine, killing 15 pilgrims, including women and children, and injuring dozens more before he was shot and injured by security forces. Later, the terrorist died of his wounds in the hospital.
In a related context, Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi condemned the terrorist attack that targeted the Shah Cheragh shrine, rebuking international silence toward such terrorist acts, Mehr reported.
Vahidi arrived in Shiraz and visited the location of the terrorist attack.
Upon his arrival at the shrine, Vahidi recalled that "last year we witnessed the same attack in the Holy Shrine that left some Iranians martyred."
The Iranian Minister rebuked the silence of the international community that claims to defend human rights, pointing out that this silence will promote further acts of terrorism.
Vahidi's visit comes after Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi held a phone conversation with the Iranian Interior Minister and directed him to rapidly identify and prosecute the perpetrators of the terrorist attack.
