Iraq: Two drones shot down in Ain Al-Asad airbase
The Ain Al-Asad base in Iraq, which houses a US site, was targeted by two drones that were shot down.
On Tuesday, Al Mayadeen correspondent reported the downing of two drones that flew over Ain Al-Asad base in the Iraqi Al-Anbar Governorate. It is believed they were directed to carry out an attack targeting the American site at the base.
The Security Media Cell reported that two drones were targeted at Ain al-Asad base in Al-Anbar at dawn and were shot outside the base's vicinity.
The incident comes after Iraqi security sources revealed that two drones were shot down by the C-RAM system near the Victoria base on Monday.
Last month, the Spokesperson for the Office of the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces in Iraq, Major General Yahya Rasoul, confirmed Saturday the termination of the tasks of the coalition's combat forces at Ain Al-Asad base in Al-Anbar Governorate.
The Spokesperson for the Iraqi Joint Operations, Tahsin Al-Khafaji, confirmed that the US forces have "completely completed their withdrawal" from the base and only advisors remain.
