The Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters in Iran mourned its commander, IRGC Major General Ali Shadmani, who succumbed to critical injuries sustained in last week's Israeli aggression.
The announcement, issued Wednesday, hailed Shadmani as a "valiant and honorable commander" who was martyred alongside his fallen comrades during the Israeli assault.
General Shadmani emerged armed with the teachings of the Islamic Revolution's founding leaders.
Shadmani succeeds Rashid, later assassinated on June 17
Shadmani had only recently assumed the post following the martyrdom of his predecessor, Major General Gholam Ali Rashid, in "Israel’s" unprovoked attack on Iran on June 13.
Israeli media had announced on June 17 that the IOF assassinated Shadmani in an airstrike.

Decades of service
The statement praised the martyr's decades of service in Iran’s Sacred Defense (Iran-Iraq War) and in standing against "the global system of arrogance and domination.
According to the headquarters, Shadmani had long awaited martyrdom and ultimately achieved the "pinnacle of salvation" through his death in service.
The statement offered condolences to Iran’s Leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei, to the martyr's family, and to the Iranian nation.
"With God’s will and power, the path of this steadfast fighter will undoubtedly be continued with even greater resolve," the statement concluded.
At least 627 killed, 4,870 injured in Israeli aggression
