Khatibzadeh: Negotiations will not remain forever
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh says the ball is in the court of the US and the Western parties to prove their seriousness regarding the agreement.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh confirmed on Monday that Iran's negotiating delegation will arrive in Vienna today to continue negotiations on returning to compliance with the 2015 nuclear agreement, reiterating his country's refusal to set a time limit for the negotiations that started last year.
In his weekly press conference, Khatibzadeh said the delegation will arrive today, and bilateral and multilateral talks will begin, noting that meetings between Iran, China, and Russia are ongoing.
Khatibzadeh shed light on the failure of the US maximum pressure policy, noting that negotiations are going forward in spite of this.
He warned that the negotiation window will not remain open forever, noting that "time is sensitive," and that the "ball is in the court of the US and the Western parties to prove their seriousness in adhering to the agreement."
The Spokesperson detailed that Iran is in Vienna to ensure the interest of the Iranian people and for the sake of lifting sanctions, adding that all guarantees must be obtained and all obstacles removed to allow the work of international companies and banks with Iran.
The eighth round of Vienna talks is to resume this evening.
Khatibzadeh: Martyr Soleimani is a symbol of resistance and unity
On the second anniversary of the assassination of martyr Lieutenant-General Qassem Soleimani, Khatibzadeh expressed that the Zionist entity is behind many criminal assassinations, noting that its accusations indicate its fear of even Soleimani's image.
He stressed that Soleimani is a symbol of "resistance and unity," elaborating that he "sacrificed his life in order to protect Iran and became immortal."
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will not stop its initiatives until the perpetrators, planners, and executors of the assassination are brought to justice," he concluded.
Iran's foreign policy is balanced
Regarding the visit of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Russia and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian's visit to China, the Foreign Ministry Spokesman confirmed that Iran's foreign policy is balanced, active, and employing its capabilities to serve the nation.
He revealed that Raisi's visit to Russia will cover various issues between the two nations, along with some agreements in the works.
Tehran is communicating with all Afghan parties
As for the Afghanistan issue, Khatibzadeh detailed that Iran has repeatedly stressed the need to form an inclusive Afghan government with the participation of all components of the Afghan people.
According to Khatibzadeh, despite differences and problems, Iran seeks to provide humanitarian aid to the Afghan people, noting that Tehran communicates with all Afghan parties and has clearly unveiled its intentions.
"The crises the region is witnessing today is the presence of greedy foreign forces seeking to dominate the region," he said.
