Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the continued Israeli violations of Syrian sovereignty on Tuesday, including military incursions into Syrian territory and interference in internal affairs. The Kingdom also denounced the violation of the 1974 disengagement agreement between Syria and "Israel", particularly as tensions escalate in the Sweida Governorate.
In an official statement, Riyadh affirmed its full support for the measures taken by the Syrian government to preserve national security, civil peace, and state sovereignty, and also reiterated its rejection of any attempts to partition Syria or promote separatist agendas.
Saudi Arabia specifically criticized "Israel’s" recent incursion into southern Syria as a direct breach of the decades-old disengagement agreement. The latest violation includes the occupation of Tel Bat al-Warda on the slopes of Mount Hermon and a subsequent incursion into the town of Beit Jann, located in the Damascus countryside.
According to Syria TV, an Israeli military force composed of 11 vehicles and more than 60 personnel stormed Beit Jann, where an exchange of gunfire occurred, though no casualties were reported.
Riyadh reaffirms support for Syrian sovereignty
Riyadh expressed its backing for Damascus in asserting control over all Syrian territory and emphasized the importance of unity among all Syrians. The Kingdom called on all national factions to prioritize dialogue and wisdom to strengthen the foundations of a unified and sovereign Syrian state.
It also urged the international community to support Syria’s efforts toward national reconciliation, institutional stability, and the restoration of full sovereignty. Saudi Arabia called for a serious and united global stance against Israeli incursions into Syrian territory and violations of international agreements.
The latest military actions near Mount Hermon, coupled with the incursion into Beit Jann, mark a significant escalation in "Israel’s" operations inside Syria. Analysts view the move as a strategic attempt to further entrench the occupation’s control along Syria’s southern frontier, particularly as the region faces ongoing instability.
The Saudi condemnation of Israeli violations in Syria comes amid increasing international concern over the occupation’s broader agenda in the Levant and growing pressure on regional actors to respond.
It is worth mentioning that early today, Israeli Security Minister Israel Katz announced that the Israeli military will remain deployed in areas it recently occupied in Syria, including Mount Hermon and surrounding positions in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
In a post on the X platform, Katz stated that the army would remain on Mount Hermon and in what he described as a "security zone necessary to protect the Golan Heights and the Galilee from threats coming from the Syrian side."
Katz also claimed that "Israel" would continue "protecting the Druze in Syria" as part of its excuse for maintaining the military presence.
