Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia march in solidarity with Palestine
The people of several North African countries protest in support of the Palestinian cause and in condemnation of Israeli brutality in Gaza.
The Movement of Society for Peace (MSP) organized a solidarity stand in Algeria's capital to mark the first anniversary of Operation al-Aqsa Flood, in support of the Palestinian cause and condemning the Israeli occupation's crimes against the Palestinian people, as reported by the official Algeria Press Service.
The event, held under the slogan In Support of the October 7, 2023, Epic, took place on Saturday and saw the participation of the movement's leader and its senior officials, along with parliamentarians, representatives of political parties, civil society organizations, and national and trade union figures.
Prominent in attendance were Mousa Abu Marzouk, a senior Hamas official, and the movement's representative in Algeria, Yousef Hamdan.
Participants raised Palestinian flags and chanted slogans in support of Palestine and the Palestinian cause. They affirmed their "unconditional solidarity" with the Palestinian people, who have been facing a campaign of genocide for more than a year. They also voiced their support for the Palestinians' legitimate struggle and their right to resist in pursuit of liberating their land and establishing an independent state.
Hamas: 'Israel' now rejected in region, globally
Abdelali Hassani Sherif, head of the MSP, emphasized that the Palestinian cause is central to the movement, which fully supports "the Palestinian people fighting to liberate their occupied land." He highlighted the significant sacrifices made by the Palestinian people, including thousands of martyrs, with particular recognition for the leaders of the resistance in Palestine and Lebanon.
Mousa Abu Marzouk praised Algeria's unwavering support for Palestine, stating, "After 70 years of occupation, there is now a conviction that resistance is the only path to liberating Palestine."
"The Palestinian people have paid a heavy price during the ongoing Zionist aggression for more than a year, but they have also achieved notable gains," he said. "Chief among these is the cessation of normalization, as this entity is now not only rejected in the region but by most countries globally, including the UN Security Council and the General Assembly."
In related events, thousands of people demonstrated in Tunisia, Morocco, Senegal, and other countries to protest "the international silence on the genocide being carried out by Israel in Gaza."
