Probe into Shuafat operation exposes setbacks, IOF soldiers dismissed
An Israeli occupation military investigation into the Shuafat checkpoint operation concludes that the incident should have ended with the arrest or neutralization of the executor.
Israeli media reported that the Chief of Staff of the Israeli occupation army, Aviv Kochavi, had received the results of the military investigation into the Shuafat checkpoint operation, which resulted in the killing of an Israeli occupation soldier and the injury of two others.
The media pointed out that three members of the so-called "Border Guards" affiliated with the Israeli occupation police were dismissed, in addition to suspending one "Border Guards" officer from his leadership role in the unit for at least a year.
In addition, a reprimand was directed to a battalion commander and company commander in the "Border Guard" unit, which worked on securing the Shuafat checkpoint during the operation.
The investigation, which was conducted by the commander of the Al-Quds area in the Israeli occupation army, pointed out that the incident should have ended with the arrest or neutralization of the executor, highlighting setbacks and failures faced by the leadership at the Shuafat checkpoint.
On October 8, Israeli media confirmed that a speeding car approached the Shuafat camp checkpoint and its passenger opened fire at the Israeli occupation soldiers stationed at the place.
The car managed to exit the shooting site, while the occupation forces proceeded to chase it and search for the executor.
Following the operation, the Israeli occupation imposed a blockade on the Shuafat refugee camp, exerting pressure on its 150,000 residents in an attempt to arrest the executor.
After days of search operations, Israeli occupation forces shot dead on October 19 the Palestinian executor of the Shuafat checkpoint operation, Uday Al-Tamimi.
This came after Al-Tamimi wounded an Israeli occupation security guard, after carrying out another shooting operation near the illegal settlement of "Ma'ale Adumim", east of occupied Al-Quds.
