The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) has strongly condemned the recent Israeli strikes on Iran, describing them as a violation of Iranian sovereignty and a threat to regional and international security.
In a statement, the organization said that “Israel’s” actions undermine Iran’s national sovereignty and destabilize both regional and global security frameworks.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that "Israel has crossed every red line" in its hostilities against Iran, calling the Israeli attacks on Iran this Friday "a declaration of war."
In a letter to the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary-General, Araghchi urged an emergency meeting to address "Israel’s" military actions against Iran, insisting that "the matter must be dealt with immediately." Araghchi urged the UN Security Council to fulfill its obligations under the UN Charter, demanding that it condemn the attack and take swift, decisive action to hold "Israel" accountable.
'Israel' attacks, Iran retaliates
"Israel" launched a major attack on Iran in the early hours of Friday, targeting residential buildings, nuclear facilities, and military infrastructure across Iran.
The Israeli occupation military confirmed at dawn Friday the launch of a broad aerial offensive targeting Iran’s nuclear program. In an official statement, the occupation military said it carried out a “precise, preemptive strike” in Iran, “with the goal of damaging Iran’s nuclear program."
The Iranian television reported that the Israeli aggression targeted the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps' headquarters building in Tehran.
Al Mayadeen's sources confirmed the martyrdom of the Commander-in-Chief of the IRGC, Major General Hossein Salami. Several other commanders, including Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the chief of the IRGC's Aerospace Forces, as well as multiple nuclear scientists, were also assassinated.
"Israel" also attacked residential neighborhoods, killing over 100 civilians, including women and children.
In response, Iran launched Operation True Promise 3, which began with massive waves of missiles targeting Tel Aviv and northern "Israel". The retaliation left four settlers dead, and over 200 others wounded, as unprecedented destruction tore through targeted occupied areas.
