Surge in naturalization applications from Israelis in Germany
Applications for German naturalization from Israelis with German ancestry have significantly increased, with 6,869 applications received in the first four months of 2024.
The number of Israelis with German ancestry applying for naturalization has risen, according to a report on Monday citing Germany's Federal Office of Administration.
From January to April this year, 6,869 applications were received, compared to 9,129 for the entire year of 2023 and 5,670 in 2022.
Since August 2021, descendants of those persecuted by the Nazi regime for their political, racial, or religious beliefs are legally entitled to obtain a German passport.
Moreover, the Federal Office indicated that these applications are expected to see a significant increase this year due to the ongoing escalation in the region, as observed in the first four months of this year.
