Tehran college students rally in solidarity with US-EU Gaza protests
Demonstrators in Tehran condemn the violent crackdown on pro-Palestinian protesters at US colleges.
Students and staffers of Tehran University in Iran staged a rally on Saturday in solidarity with students on US and European campuses who have been protesting their countries' sponsorship of the Israeli genocidal war against Palestinians in Gaza.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent highlighted that Iranian universities have seen demonstrations in support of the Palestinian cause before, adding that hundreds of thousands of students and professors across various Iranian universities have participated in these protests.
Protesters chanted "death to America," "death to Israel," and "death to England," and condemned the violent crackdown on American students as they roamed the streets of the Iranian capital.

A similar rally took place at Tehran University on Saturday expressing "support for the awakening conscience of the American and European academic community in denouncing violence against and killing of the oppressed Palestinian people by the fake Israeli regime and America's support for the child-killing regime," as reported by IRNA.
Iran's UN mission condemns crackdown on pro-Palestine uni. protests
Iran's permanent mission to the UN Office in Geneva condemned on April 26 the ongoing US crackdown on pro-Palestine protests across US universities, emphasizing that violence against peaceful protesters will not silence them.
"We strongly condemn the brutal and violent crackdown on widespread peaceful pro-Palestinian protests at universities in the United States. The US Police brutality and excessive use of force during peaceful assemblies, and targeting students advocating for an end to genocidal war in Gaza is a matter of serious concern," the mission said on X.
"Demonstrators are precisely calling for ending the US complicity in ongoing Genocide in Gaza in their name. Firing and beating peaceful protesters does not silence them, who are the frontline human rights defenders, it only reaffirms the urgency of the struggle for justice for Palestine," it added.
In the same context, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian expressed deep concerns over the police crackdown on pro-Palestine demonstrations in US universities on April 25.
Universities across the United States - "Israel's" close ally and top provider of military assistance - have been rocked by demonstrations over "Israel's" relentless aggression on Gaza, triggering mass arrests and shutting down classes at some of the most prestigious US institutions.
"The suppression and violent treatment of the American police and security forces against professors and students protesting the genocide and war crimes of the Israeli regime in various universities of the United States is deeply worrying," Amir-Abdollahian posted on X.
This comes as student protests and movements are increasingly gaining momentum in the US, where hundreds of arrests were made as police tried to thwart their efforts to push for an end to US sponsorship of the Gaza genocide.
