The Russian Defense Ministry on Wednesday reported that in the span of the past 24 hours, during battles within the past 24 hours in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Ukraine's military casualties reached 510 servicemen in the region.

"The enemy lost more than 510 service members, five armored combat vehicles, 10 vehicles, a 155 mm M777 howitzer and a 155 mm US-made M198 howitzer, a 155 mm UK-made FN-70 howitzer, a 152 mm Hyacinth-C cannon, two 152 mm D-20 howitzers, two 122 mm D-30 howitzers, a 105 mm UK-made L-119 gun, as well as a Kasta radar station," the statement said.

According to the statement, Russia's Western forces successfully repelled ten Ukrainian counterattacks, resulting in up to 190 soldiers lost by Kiev. Similarly, the center group thwarted six Ukrainian counterattacks, leading to the loss of up to 175 enemy soldiers.

On another note, Russian forces penetrated the kharkov region, causing Kiev to suffer up to 125 soldier casualties within a day. Simultaneously, the eastern group secured more advantageous positions, contributing to Ukraine's loss of up to 140 service members.

Vitaly Ganchev, overseeing Russia-controlled territories in the kharkov region, informed Sputnik that Ukraine openly acknowledged the loss of Vovchansk, a crucial border city, along with several neighboring settlements in the region.

"The enemy is already openly admitting the loss of Volchansk and several other nearby settlements. Do not think it is easy. There is still a fight going on there, but our boys are pushing forward," Ganchev said.

Just earlier this week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky raised serious concerns over the severity of the situation unfolding in the kharkov region, labeling it as one of the most intense areas amidst Russia's ongoing advance in that direction.

This follows last week's announcement by the Russian Defense Ministry, stating that Russia's northern grouping of forces had successfully seized control over a string of villages in the kharkov region. These included Hatyshche, Krasne, Morokhovets, Oliinykove, Borysivka, Ohirtseve, Pletenivka, Pilna, and Strilecha, marking strategic gains for Russian forces in the region.

As these events are unfolding, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken recently announced a new $2 billion military aid package for Ukraine. He was recently seen playing guitar at a bar in Kiev.

UKRAINE: How is this real? @SecBlinken playing guitar at a bar in a Ukraine war zone without a care in the world. He’s shoveling cash into Zelensky’s coffers without condition or audit. He refuses to negotiate with Russia to end the war. God help us. pic.twitter.com/PcQlk4abnD
