West uses democracy as excuse to ignite riots in Iran: Kanaani
Kanaani highlights the significant role of the martyred IRGC Quds Force Commander, General Qassem Soleimani, in his fight against terrorism.
In his weekly press conference in Tehran, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani slammed Western countries, including Canada, for their provocative measures that contributed to the rise in tensions and riots in Iran.
Foreign ministers of Western countries were slammed by Kanaani for their interference and unconstructive, irresponsible acts as he emphasized that they did not permit any leeway for peaceful criticism to be heard - by exploiting the excuse of democracy to ignite riots in Iran.
Iran witnessed riots allegedly over the death of a young woman in Iranian police custody, which Iran repeatedly denied, while providing CCTV footage as proof, at a time when the Director General of Forensic Medicine in Tehran Province confirmed in September that there were no traces of beating or wounds on the head and face of the late Iranian Mahsa Amini.
The Iranian police published CCTV footage documenting the last moments of Mahsa Amini at the police station. The Tehran police said the footage proved that the 22-year-old was not subjected to any violence or physical abuse.
The Spokesperson condemned Wednesday's attack when an armed terrorist entered the Shah-e-Cheragh shrine at approximately 5:45 pm local time (14:15 GMT) a little before evening prayers and opened fire, killing 15 pilgrims, including a woman and two children, in cold blood, and leaving at least 40 others wounded.
According to the police commander of Fars province, the assailant was wounded and taken into custody by security personnel, after which he later succumbed to his wounds. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack on Wednesday.
Kanaani then shed light on the significant role of the martyred IRGC Quds Force Commander, General Qassem Soleimani, in his fight against terrorism, adding that it is due to his efforts that the fight against terrorist groups is successful - while criticizing those who remained silent on terrorist crimes.
This comes after the Iranian High Council for Human Rights criticized Western countries and international human rights organizations for ignoring obvious evidence of human rights violations in their country, namely the non-reaction to the recent terrorist attack on their Shah-e-Cheragh shrine in Shiraz.
On the topic of human rights, Kanaani relayed that supposed supporters of human rights are abusing the matter of human rights as a ploy to enforce their own political opinions as superior over others as he spoke of an unofficial UN session, stating that the aim of such a convention is to exert political pressure on Iran.
With regard to the recent chain of sanctions against Iran, Kanaani discussed Germany’s recent decision to put the IRGC on the terrorist list, calling it illegal to sanction the official military body, which was followed by his comment that Iran does not provide weapons to any side of the war in Ukraine.
This comment comes in light of the EU imposing sanctions earlier this month against three Iranian individuals and one entity over claims of developing and delivering Iranian drones to Russia for use against Ukraine.
In a statement on its website, the European Council announced that "the Council today added three Iranian individuals and one Iranian entity to the list of those subject to restrictive measures for undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence of Ukraine."
On a separate but recent incident, Kanaani underlined governmental irresponsibility by South Korea for the Halloween stampede that happened on Saturday that caused the death of five Iranian nationals and over 150 people, while also taking a jab at the government's recklessness regarding Iran’s frozen assets and the internal developments in the country.
