Yemeni air defenses shoot down US MQ-9 reaper drone
Yemeni Armed Forces spokesperson Yahya Saree announces that Yemen shot down its 11th American MQ-9 Reaper UAV since the start of Operation al-Aqsa Flood.
Yemen's air defenses shot down an American MQ-9 Reaper drone as it was carrying out hostilities in the airspace of the northern governorate of Saada, Yemeni Armed Forces spokesperson Yahya Saree said on Monday.
"This aircraft is the 11th of this type that our air defenses succeded in downing during this battle," Saree said.
Saree condemned the series of Israeli airstrikes on civilian facilities in the Hodeidah governorate. The attacks, supported by the United States, targeted several key infrastructure points, including the port and a power station, resulting in five civilian martyrs and 57 wounded.
"The Israeli enemy, with American support, launched 17 airstrikes on various civilian facilities in Hodeidah, including the port and the power station, which led to the martyrdom of five citizens and the injury of 57 as a final tally," he stressed.
Saree emphasized that this "criminal aggression" would not deter the Yemeni people or their armed forces from fulfilling their "religious, humanitarian, and moral duty" toward both the Palestinian and Lebanese people, reflecting Yemen's stance of solidarity with Resistance movements in the region.
"The crime of aggression against Hodeidah will be met with a military escalation against this criminal enemy in the coming period," he concluded, pledging an act of retaliation against the Israeli occupation forces.
Hodeidah port under attack
