Young Palestinian martyred during Israeli raid on Ramallah
Israeli occupation forces launch a raid on the occupied Palestinian West Bank towns of Ramallah and al-Bireh to demolish the homes of martyrs.
A young Palestinian man, Moataz Sarsour, was martyred on Tuesday morning after succumbing to injuries inflicted by Israeli forces during a raid on the cities of Ramallah and al-Bireh at dawn.
Local media sources reported that Sarsour, who hailed from the al-Amari refugee camp, was critically wounded by Israeli gunfire to the chest. He was transported to the Palestine Medical Complex, where doctors later pronounced him dead.
The raid began when Israeli forces stormed the al-Tira neighborhood in Ramallah and raided an apartment belonging to Dr. Aysar Barghouti, a prisoner held by the Israeli occupation forces.
Simultaneously, another raid took place in the Umm al-Sharayet neighborhood in al-Bireh, targeting Dr. Khaled al-Kharouf's apartment, another prisoner. Both apartments were subsequently demolished by Israeli forces.
Four Palestinians injured, including martyr Sarsour
The incursions sparked violent confrontations in the al-Tira and Umm al-Sharayet neighborhoods, during which Israeli soldiers fired live ammunition and tear gas. Four young men were injured by gunfire, including Sarsour, while another young man was run over by a military vehicle.
Field sources in the occupied West Bank also reported that Israeli forces besieged a house in the Askar refugee camp east of Nablus where Resistance fighters were reportedly engaged in clashes with the soldiers.
With Sarsour's martyrdom, the number of Palestinians killed in the West Bank since October 7, 2023, has risen to 624. Among the victims are 145 children and nine women.
These latest incidents are part of a broader escalation of violence in the West Bank, which has seen an increase in confrontations since the start of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. Towns and cities across the West Bank have been subjected to daily incursions by settlers and occupation forces, often resulting in widespread arrests, as well as deaths and injuries.
Israeli occupation soldiers, the UN Secretary-General's spokesperson said, killed 16 Palestinians between July 30 and August 5, including two children, and injured 56 others in the occupied West Bank.
Spokesperson Farhan Haq stressed that Palestinians continue to be killed and displaced by Israeli occupation troops in the West Bank. He emphasized that over the same period, "Israel" also launched over 20 attacks on Palestinians, resulting in injuries and property damage.
