A humble tribute to the two martyred journalists of Al Mayadeen
The pan-Arab channel Al Mayadeen proved to be the strongest voice against "Israel's" barbaric and heinous aggression against the oppressed people of Palestine.
There is no doubt that journalists or media personnel have to work while risking their lives during the war. Uncovering the truth is the job of journalists and media outlets.
Ever since "Operation Iron Swords" was launched in Palestinian Gaza as ordered by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s "long and difficult war" on October 8, it is a shame that most Western media outlets and TV channels continue to publish “embedded” news stories that have to be passed by the Israeli army and start questioning who launched the first rocket attack on "Israel". But the Zionist forces should be ashamed of the atrocities they are committing both in Palestine and in South Lebanon in the name of "self-defense". No one except aggressive-minded people would support this brutal Israeli genocide.
Obviously, while the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) initiated the attack this time, "Israel" has invaded Palestine thousands of times over the past 75 years. The October 7 operation is but a natural reaction to the years of oppression by the bloodthirsty Israeli occupation forces against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and elsewhere across occupied Palestine.
On the other hand, since the very beginning of the Israeli war on Gaza, the Lebanese TV news channel Al Mayadeen Network was the foremost among the handful of media outlets in the Arab world standing in Gaza's “killing field” and in South Lebanon to expose the brutality of "Israel" to the world.
Since Operation Al-Aqsa Flood was launched by Hamas on October 7 in response to the Zionist regime's rising tide of violence against Palestinians, Israeli occupation forces have been carrying out massacres in Gaza, the West Bank, al-Quds, and other places that have put the world to shame. The indiscriminate killing of citizens, including children and women, living in the besieged Gaza Strip at the behest of Prime Minister Netanyahu probably surpasses all past horrors.
The pan-Arab channel Al Mayadeen proved to be the strongest voice against "Israel's" barbaric and heinous aggression against the oppressed people of Palestine. It has exposed in a truthful way to the world how the far-right Israeli government is trying to "legitimize" the killing of unarmed Palestinians by attacking Palestine. By defying the rampant Israeli attacks, Al Mayadeen journalists and crews have made the world more aware of the brutal Israeli aggression in Gaza and southern Lebanon.
The Netanyahu government, backed by the US administration under President Joe Biden’s office, didn’t like the way Al Mayadeen's brave journalists exposed Israeli war crimes against the Palestinian people, especially Palestinian women and children. The international community needs to remember that "Israel" demanded the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres' resignation for his call for a ceasefire in order to end “epic suffering” in the occupied Gaza Strip.
Appalled by the daily exposure of Zionist Israeli lies by Al Mayadeen through its media channels, including social media platforms, "Israel's" War Cabinet approved regulations on November 13 that would allow the occupying Israeli government to ban and shut down Al Mayadeen Media Network in Palestine. According to a statement from the Israeli security cabinet, "Israel" accused Al Mayadeen of “wartime efforts to harm [Israel’s] security interests and to serve the enemy’s goals.”
However, Al Mayadeen's intrepid journalists did not do "sponsored journalism" like the Western media, defying Israeli government bans. Not only did the Israeli government ban Al Mayadeen TV channel, but Israeli occupation forces also cowardly bombed and shot Al Mayadeen journalists in the Tayr Harfa area of southern Lebanon on November 21 to silence them. As a result of the Israeli airstrike, Al Mayadeen correspondent Farah Omar, photojournalist Rabih Me'mari, and a civilian associate Hussein Akil were killed.
Notably, earlier on October 13, Lebanese journalist Issam Abdullah, working for Reuters, was killed in an Israeli missile attack in South Lebanon. As of November 21, more than 60 journalists were martyred in Israeli attacks in Gaza and South Lebanon. Undoubtedly, the sacrifice of heroic martyred journalists will not go in vain.
Ghassan Ben Jeddou, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Mayadeen Media Network, while mourning the death of his two colleagues, warned the Israeli occupation forces: "You will not be able to silence the voice of Al Mayadeen, and you should know that no matter how much you kill [us] or attempt [to silence] us, we will go on." He rightly called the Israeli attack on Al Mayadeen journalists deliberate.
The martyrdom of two journalists of Al Mayadeen while reporting on Israeli aggression has naturally raised the hatred of the Arab world. Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, condemning the Israeli occupation forces' crimes for killing journalists, wrote on social media site X: “The martyrdom of tens of journalists and cameramen, including two hard-working Al Mayadeen reporters, in the brutal attacks of the fake Israeli regime in Gaza and southern Lebanon shows the influence and special role that journalists play in reflecting the Israeli regime’s genocide and war crimes and awakening the world’s public opinion.”
The Lebanese Islamic Resistance - Hezbollah, in solidarity with the Palestinian Resistance, also launched strikes from southern Lebanon on October 8 in protest against "Israel's" brutal offensive against the Palestinian people. Hezbollah immediately responded to the killing of Al Mayadeen journalists - Omar and Me'mari, by conducting three separate operations against Israeli military targets in the "Menara" settlement, "Avivim" settlement, and the "Beit Hillel" military base near the Lebanese-Palestinian border.
The Zionist regime has adopted the tactics of controlling the mass media, particularly in the case of Al Mayadeen, to create false information about their ongoing operations in Gaza, as did the administration of former US President George W. Bush during the 2003 Iraq War under false allegations of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction (WMD).
Despite various problems and sufferings, the way Al Mayadeen journalists are carrying out their duties has won the praise of the world. Al Mayadeen echoes the cries of the starving and wounded children and women of Gaza through the air that pricks the conscience of the world. The killing of the two journalists of Al Mayadeen is a heinous crime against humanity. History will never forgive the barbaric Israeli military. Their tragic death will remain etched in people's hearts and memories.
No one can dispute that the ban on Al Mayadeen media is a heinous attempt to hush up the brazen genocide in Gaza by "Israel". From hospitals to mosques, schools to markets—everywhere... Israeli soldiers brutalize civilian men, women, the elderly, and children. The warmongering Netanyahu government does not want the world to witness a “live telecast” of inhumane brutality perpetrated by the Israeli forces.
According to the rules of war, civilians, especially women, children, and media personnel, are always excluded from confrontations. It is Al Mayadeen journalists who have shown the whole world the brutality of Israeli soldiers on pregnant women and newborn babies. The Israeli government's ban is a dirty step to undermine media freedom. It can be hoped that the entire world will speak out against "Israel's" efforts to silence Al Mayadeen's voice and condemn the killing of its journalists.
Salutations to the soul of Al Mayadeen's journalists!
