'Israel' prepares for a new battlefront against Yemen: WashPo
Israeli occupation prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has recently vowed to strike Yemen until "they learn," but will he be successful?
"Israel" is preparing for a new front against the Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF), another chapter in its endless wars in the region that spread beyond the boundaries of the occupation of Palestine.
According to The Washington Post, Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Thursday that the struggle against the YAF is "only getting started," vowing to "strike them to the bitter end, until they learn."
The YAF were originally considered by the occupation to be less dangerous than Hamas or Hezbollah but the YAF have recently increased their strikes, forcing millions of Israelis to flee to bomb shelters on a nearly daily basis.
Recently, a missile fired from Yemen hit a Tel Aviv neighborhood on December 19 as "Israel" ramped up its war crimes in Gaza, particularly in northern Gaza.
The YAF "are more technologically advanced than many perceive" and should not be "underrated," according to an Israeli official who spoke on condition of anonymity. He stated that with Iran's help. the YAF were able to take "practical steps" toward achieving their goals.
Their drones, missiles, and projectiles, analysts say, are circumventing "Israel's" once-vaunted air defense systems, reviving "Israel's" dilemma of how to fight an opponent armed with inexpensive and plentiful stores of weaponry.
Drones from Yemen cost several thousand dollars each, but each interception costs "Israel" tens of thousands of dollars.
"Because it's so cheap for them to try to get a drone or a missile every few days or weeks into Israel, they can win this," one Israeli analyst said.
Extensive preparation needed to go against Yemen
Days ago, Israeli General Eran Ortal asserted that the fight with Yemen will go on for years, detailing how what strengthened the image of power in Sanaa is that they are still on the battlefield against "Israel", while others have become less active, meaning that they are "the only ones who continue to fight against Israel."
The Israeli general also admitted to the challenges in going against Yemen in terms of cost and equipment, clarifying that the army's capabilities are confined to local missions for border protection rather than being a force capable of long-range operations, which require extensive preparation.
The Israeli occupation has intensified its strikes against Yemen, hitting most recently the international airport in the capital of Sanaa, just as World Health Organization Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was about to board a flight there, prompting U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres to call on "Israel" and the YAF to end their actions and exercise restraint.
Airstrikes "on Sana'a International Airport, the Red Sea ports, and power stations in Yemen are especially alarming," Guterres stated in a social media post.
Ansar Allah: Yemen will respond swiftly to Israeli aggression
The Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) are ready "to confront escalation with escalation," the Political Bureau of the Ansar Allah movement stressed on Thursday, following a series of Israeli strikes that targeted the country.
Underlining that the YAF is ready to respond swiftly to Israeli aggression, the Political Bureau said that Sanaa is willing to defend itself against aggression no matter the cost.
Moreover, a statement released by the movement said that such strikes and attacks against the country "will not deter" the Yemeni people from supporting the Palestinian people and their Resistance in Gaza.
YAF Spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree also announced on Friday that Yemen carried out a top-tier military operation targeting Ben Gurion Airport in the occupied Yafa region [Tel Aviv area] with a Palestine-2 hypersonic ballistic missile.
The missile successfully reached its target despite the enemy’s attempts to conceal it and resulted in casualties and the suspension of airport operations, Saree confirmed.
He also said that the YAF's UAV Force conducted a military operation targeting a vital Israeli site in the occupied Yafa region (Tel Aviv) using a drone, which achieved its objective successfully.
The targeting of the ship came after its owning company violated the ban imposed by the YAF on entering the ports of occupied Palestine, Saree said.
