Hamas has denied any links to the reported incident that took place in Rafah on Tuesday, where an Israeli troop was wounded in sniper fire, condemning the Israeli airstrikes that targeted the enclave as violations of the ceasefire agreement.
In a statement, Hamas affirmed that it has no connection to the shooting incident in Rafah and reiterated its commitment to the ceasefire agreement.
It added that the "criminal bombardment carried out by the occupying fascist army on areas of the Gaza Strip represents a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement signed in Sharm El-Sheikh under the auspices of President Trump."
Furthermore, Hamas asserted that the attacks are part of ongoing violations that have occurred in recent days, causing deaths and injuries and keeping the Rafah crossing closed, reflecting a deliberate effort to disregard the ceasefire agreement and thwart its implementation.
Hamas concluded its statement by calling on the mediators overseeing the agreement to take immediate action to pressure the occupying forces, curb their brutal escalation against civilians in the Gaza Strip, halt their serious violations of the ceasefire, and ensure full compliance with all its terms.
'Israel' bombards Gaza with airstrikes, shattering truce
At Netanyahu's orders, the Israeli occupation launched a massive wave of airstrikes across the Gaza Strip, killing at least 20 martyrs and wounding 50 people.
Al Mayadeen’s correspondent reported on Tuesday that five Palestinians were killed as Israeli occupation forces bombed a civilian vehicle on Al-Qassam Street in Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip.
Furthermore, Israeli forces carried out airstrikes on the city of Rafah in southern Gaza, while another airstrike targeted the al-Shati' refugee camp, west of Gaza City. Three people were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting a home in the Yarmouk area of central Gaza City.
Additionally, three people were killed in an airstrike targeting a school that was housing refugees in Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip.
Additional Israeli airstrikes targeted a plot of land surrounding Al-Shifa Medical complex in the al-Rimal neighborhood in Gaza City, while a separate airstrike targeted eastern Gaza City.
In Gaza City, Israeli warplanes targeted the al-Zaytoun neighborhood in the eastern part of the city, while in the south, "Israel" struck a home belonging to the al-Banna family in the al-Sabra neighborhood, killing four and injuring several, including a child and an infant.
In detail, Israeli strikes hit a multi-story home belonging to the al-Banna family in the al-Sabra neighborhood in southern Gaza City, according to Gaza Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal. Civil defense and medical teams were able to recover four bodies and evacuate more than ten injured individuals to hospitals, while rescue crews continue searching for people trapped under the rubble.
Meanwhile, an Israeli airstrike targeted an apartment in the al-Amal neighborhood, north of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, killing one person and wounding several others. Israeli artillery also targeted the eastern portion of the Shujaiya neighborhood, east of Gaza City.
Moreover, Israeli aircraft struck a tent sheltering displaced people near the al-Sawarḥa cemetery, west of al-Zawayda in central Gaza, causing multiple injuries.
IOF accuse Hamas of slowing down a process 'Israel' is hindering
"Israel" claims that the airstrikes were in response to Hamas “violating the agreement and refusing to hand over the prisoners’ bodies,” in addition to claims that an Israeli troop was wounded by sniper fire in Rafah.
Earlier, Hamas had accused "Israel" of obstructing efforts to recover the bodies of its captives by blocking the entry of heavy machinery and equipment necessary to speed up search operations, adding that "Israel" had explicitly refused to allow joint teams from the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Palestinian Resistance to access several areas in the Gaza Strip to this end.
The movement stressed that "Israel’s" claims about the Resistance slowing down in handling this issue were baseless and that the occupation aimed through these claims to mislead public opinion and fabricate false pretexts in preparation for taking new aggressive actions.
Al-Qassam postpones captive handover after Israeli strikes
Meanwhile, the al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ military wing, said it is postponing the handover of an Israeli captive's body that was set for today, citing violations by the Israeli occupation. Earlier on Tuesday, the al-Qassam Brigades discovered the body of an Israeli captive while conducting searches in a tunnel in southern Gaza.
The Brigades warned that any Israeli escalation would hinder search and excavation operations and the recovery of bodies, which would delay the occupation forces from reclaiming the bodies of their captives.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, following security consultations, instructed the military to carry out immediate, intensive strikes on the Gaza Strip, according to his office. Israeli media also reported that "Israel" had informed the US mechanism in Kiryat Gat in advance of its intention to carry out airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.
